"Kill Him"

Ladies and Gentlemen, your modern Republican party (from Palin's campaign stop in Florida yesterday):
Wow. Just wow. Y'ever notice that Republicans who advocate lower taxes and more war never get shot by guys like these? Count with me: Medgar Evers, MLK Jr, Malcolm X, JFK, RFK. It's not clear whether the guy in the audience meant kill Ayers...or Obama....but with the exception of Ronald Reagan (who was shot by a complete nut for reasons having more to do with Jodie Foster than with politics), the evidence suggests that the notion that a black liberal being marked for violence - even just with an epithet - wouldn't be an unusual thing to imagine taking place. Wow.
"Now it turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers," Palin said.
"Boooo!" said the crowd.
"And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,'" she continued.
"Boooo!" the crowd repeated.
"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.

And there it is AGAIN, folks! "The Mainstream Media" complaint. Send for the WAAAAAAAHmbulance, another GoOPer's crying foul.
Is anyone else keeping score over the last couple of days? So far, we've had two people snarkily dismiss stories in the WaPo, and dKos, NPR and Talking Points Memo have all been discounted as sources, as well. Now, two of those are blogs, and admittedly liberal ones, at that. But, as I said in response to the attempts to discount them, just because they're opinion-based doesn't mean they CAN'T report facts or NEVER contain any accurate statements. For example, the National Enquirer - not a blog of political opinion, but not a journalistic enterprise in which many people place a great deal of faith in their objectivity or accuracy - got the John Edwards/affair story earlier this summer correct. Not only did they get it right, they got there first. Sure, that's probably because they're sleaze-mongers who thrive on salacious stories about celebrities (which just happens to include national politicians), but even so: they got there first, and they were correct.
Seems whenever a conservatarian doesn't LIKE something written in the media, no matter if it's "MAD" magazine, or the New York Times, they discount it. Honestly, people come here with articles from the Washington TIMES, for crying out loud.....and then turn right around and blast the POST as "biased." In the DSM-IV, they call that "projection."
That's odd; all I smell is a lot of guano, coming from the Republicans' smoke-and-mirrors (and guano) operation of negative campaigning and attack ads.
So it'd be easy, then, to find examples of such chants of "kill 'em!" from Democratic attendees to Obama rallies, right? I mean, Obama's had far more people showing up at his rallies throughout the spring and summer than McCain has....and if it's such a common "sports-team-like" chant, it should be easy to find such a thing, either on YouTube, or in the print media, right?
So go find some.
Try these lyrics from Ludacris, a very vocal Obama supporter... (Emphasis provided so you can't claim not to see it)
I’m back on it like I just signed my record deal
yeah the best is here, the Bentley Coup paint is dripping wet, it got sex appeal
never should have hated
you never should’ve doubted him
with a slot in the president’s iPod Obama shattered ‘em
Said I handled his biz and I’m one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a special pardon if I’m ever in the slammer
Better yet put him in office, make me your vice president
Hillary hated on you, so that b**** is irrelevant
Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?
if you said it then you meant it how you want it have a gut!
and all you other politicians trying to hate on my man,
watch us win a majority vote in every state on my man
you can’t stop what’s bout to happen, we bout to make history
the first black president is destined and it’s meant to be
the threats ain’t fazing us, the nooses or the jokes
so get off your ass, black people, it’s time to get out and vote!
paint the White House black and I’m sure that’s got ‘em terrified
McCain don’t belong in ANY chair unless he’s paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped
Ball up all of his speeches and I throw em like candy wrap
cause what you talking I hear nothing even relevant
and you the worst of all 43 presidents
get out and vote or the end will be near
the world is ready for change because Obama is here!
cause Obama is here
The world is ready for change because Obama is here!
Changing the topic to personal attacks will not change the outcome, at least that late in the process. Obama's 8% lead may or may not be cut a couple points, but not by enough to win for McCain. Also, McCain's increasingly negative and desperate attempts at tarnish and smear might turn off independent voters and actually cause a point or two % gain for Obama.
McCain has virtually nothing to offer the American people, so he lies to distract people. Karl Rove ( a devil himself!)
Yeah they just chant things like "yes we can", "No USA" and "No Pit bull".

But my favorite is the fact that the obama crowds are likened to the cult....

>>I can start posting TONS of stupid democrats that chant MUCH worse than that.
In all seriousness, I would like to read about this. Seriously. I think this is where my bias is -- Republicans are mean; Democrats are nice. It's a stupid stereotype, but I don't know about similar incidents by Democrats. (God, do I really want to know? *smile*)
But today, I read this: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/10/06/AR2008100602935.html (From the same Washington Post story?)
"Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy.""
(I haven't seen this story elsewhere, so perhaps you'll disregard the source?)
And then there was this from McCain's brother: http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hby_5Pku5ywmfC_rEtEV5BcYKR5gD93KDFPO0
""I've lived here for at least 10 years and before that about every third duty I was in either Arlington or Alexandria, up in communist country," Joe McCain said at an event in Loudon County, Va."

OMG! "Shocking" lyrics in a rap video! Alert the media!
We're talking about a guy trying to sell records, here, not a spontaneous outburst at a political rally, in the heat of electoral passion.
>>Yeah they just chant things like "yes we can", "No USA" and "No Pit bull".
But is that the same thing as "Kill him"? Sure, it might be insulting or rude. (Personally, I don't like hearing Drill, Baby, Drill, but I'm not going to say that's the same as making racial comments to a photographer.)
And I think it's silly to say that Obama's crowds are cult-like, given the size and temperament of Palin's crowds.
Laura
suck down that kool aid...
Of course the fact that his hatred reaches many more people that one person at a rally is immatieral.
