Well, I guess CNN does stand for the Clinton News Network..but they did report that 0bama's and Ayers relationship was more than what 0bama has stated.

Did you watch the entire video? If so what is the problem with working with someone to further the education of

>>but do you have anything to say about the actual video?

I had to watch it before I could comment. *smile* And I just finished. I'm not at all surprised by what CNN uncovered. It's all old news. Obama certainly has downplayed his relationship with Ayers. (I'm guessing some would say that he lied.)

Am I worried about it? Nope. I'm not worried about McCain's connections with Keating, either. *shrug*

Furthermore (and I'm sure I'll get slammed here for this comment), I think there is a racial undertone in the way that Palin brings this up. IMO, she is clearly connecting the word "terrorist" to Obama. (Notice, I'm not calling anyone a racist.) In our country, terrorists are often thought of as brown-skinned -- like Obama -- and with strange-sounding names -- like Barack Hussein Obama.

I know that the above is not going to be a popular comment, but already there has been some evidence that some McCain supporters are making this connection. See the WaPo story that I linked to earlier. (I think? If I'm wrong, let me know, and I'll dig up the right story.)

or perhaps it is b/c he was associated with Ayers and not b/c of the color of his skin?

I mean - do you think she would have said that at all if it had not been for Ayers and his downplaying/lying about that relationship?

>>And I disagree that the "a guy who lives in my neighborhood who I've served on a board with" is such a horribly misleading answer.

I think it's disingenuous. Having served on a few boards myself, I know that a chair is likely going to work closely with board members to get things done. I guess if one or the other was not active, they might not have crossed paths very often, but I have a hard time believing that, given what the board apparently accomplished.

>>you may not see it as a big lie or particularly misleading but others do

Of course. I wasn't suggesting anything otherwise.

>>I do think he was dishonest though ... just not sure what his motives were.

If I were to guess, I'd say that he was attempting to minimize the political damage that such a relationship could cause. (But I'm an Obama supporter. Of course I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt. *smile*)

I did find it interesting that CNN described the educational projects as "radical" in some ways. I thought they were perfectly reasonable! *smile* Then again, I'm a die-hard liberal, so they wouldn't sound out of the ordinary to me.

My opinion on Obama hasn't changed. I don't give a rat's patootie if he was working with him on a project to help children or whatever. He wasn't plotting to bomb things. Bush isn't running, I know full well, that but he was desperate to take us to war with Iraq, but that's ok because he's a Republican. Well, i'm sick and tiered of this BS continual trying to drive home the Ayers crapola. It's NOT working with Us Democrats. We don't CARE about Bill Ayres as far as Obama.

Thank you for not dragging me through the fire, sandy. I appreciate your measured response to my comments.

>>or perhaps it is b/c he was associated with Ayers and not b/c of the color of his skin?

Of course that's true. But I think the connection serves another purpose for Palin. I think that if Biden had the Ayers connection, it wouldn't play as well in Palin rallies. There's not fear that Biden is Muslim. KWIM?

>>I mean - do you think she would have said that at all if it had not been for Ayers and his downplaying/lying about that relationship?

Yes, I do think she would have brought it up, even if Obama had been completely honest about his relationship with Ayers. There is nothing that the McCain campaign has done thus far that shows me otherwise. I doubt very seriously that Obama's campaign would have even brought up the Keating 5, if Ayers had not been brought into the ring.

I dunno. I could be wrong. But this is how it all looks to me.

Ah, but this isn't meant for Obama supporters or Democrats. Bringing up the Ayers case is to pacify the base (and perhaps Palin?), who have been clamoring for this to be discussed in the campaign since Hillary brought it up in the primary.

"The 0bama lovers are gonna need some stronger kool-aid after this one."

I don't believe you understand.
