First of all I don't think anyone tried to 'ban' the video since it is on youtube. That said the fallacy of the title makes me distrust the rest of the video.

Hi there -Thanks for your post. I know what you're saying. I guess they meant it was banned on American Youtube - it is actually being shown on British Youtube. They mean that some lawyers were trying to get it taken down due to copyright laws but it's still running. There is actually a lot of accurate info in there - you can do your own research too...

I'm sorry but putting "period - end of story" on the end of an opinion does not make it any less an opinion. The U.S. economy is FAR more complex than that and there are very few cases where one person or party can take all of the blame for such a big event.

First of all business cycles are just that - cycles. Recessions are part of life and no party can claim to wield the economy so successfully as to avoid them. Policies can certainly aggravate the ups and downs of a normal business cycle - and sometimes a single policy

This is a very hard blow to the democratic party.

The response is not unexpected but still disappointing. I have no problem getting rid of those guys, can you see any fault in your own party or are we going to stay on the playground?

This is old stuff and whoever put together that video has got it all wrong. The CRA provided for oversight of only those institutions insured by FDIC--the small banks and S&Ls.

The majority of subprime loans were made not by the small institutions, but by the mortgage bankers and commercial banks who stepped up their act after the Glass-Stegall Act was repealed in 1999. The big push for the repeal came from Phil Gramm--McCain's top economic advisor. CRA had no authority over those institutions.

To help the crisis along, the hotshots on Wall Street started dealing their CDOs and CDSs, none of which could be properly valued once the housing downturn began. The CRA had nothing to do with this crisis.
