If you are still undecided, let me know what you think of this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RZVw3no2A4&feature=iv&annotation_id=event_193366

(((This whole fiasco started way before Bush even got into office)))

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. What I believe though is that if GWB didn't start the war in Iraq, we would be in a totally different, much better situation right now. Also McCain's chances of wining would be much higher. Just think of the thousands of US casualties and the countless billions spent so far.

And I'm an independent, voting for Obama and Republicans for Congress. No one party can own this mess. The blame game is silly and fruitless. We do not do well when we get pulled apart on partisan lines and this is all this argument is doing. All of this information can be hashed and re-hashed and nothing much learned from it.

In my opinion, the war has nothing to do with this financial situation we are in.

I would also recommend that everyone do their own research. A You Tube video made from piecemeal is not what I would call a reputable source. I did see clips from everyone from CNN Money to Wikipedia but I still can't figure out where the graphics and flow charts are from.

I agree with ginnie and jet4 that a partisan approach would be more realistic in solving this issue.

"the fact is that the Dems are primarily responsible for this economic crisis for giving loans to people who could not afford them. period - end of story. "

It's not that simple. The economic crisis may have it's roots in unstable mortgages, and if that's all it was, it wouldn't be a crisis, that amount of money could have been re-injected into the economy. The problem is that mortgage debt was then packaged and re-sold as deriatives again and again, all around the world. Real estate values dropped, the mortgages are not worth what they were and the deriatives that were supposed to be AAA rated and 100% safe, fell apart.

It isn't about partisanship.

I'll repeat the essentials of a statement that I made on another thread:

No offense Angelcakes but this isn't ONE parties fault or one Industries fault and as my mentor says "let's be clear about that" ...

It starts with someone like little Angel who goes to apply for a mortgage. She is applying for 150,000 loan. The banks come back and say, little Angel we can actually give you a 300,000 dollar mortgage and you can get an even nicer home.
