is anyone watching the debate? What do you think so far? Who is 'winning'? They don't seem to be answering many audience questions.

I'm watching. I don't know that there was a winner/loser.

On the economy, they both lost. They both were afraid to be honest and say, "Listen, things stink. Things will get worse for a while.." Both stuck with the not raise taxes thing. HELLO!! Can you say massive deficit! Did you both not mortgage my children's future?

On the war...same old/ same old. They won or lost depending on the original point of view.

I have a feeling it's not going to be any different in the next debate.

And just think...in the next 3 weeks I will be getting 107 essays comparing the 2 candidates on at least 2 issues close the hearts (ha) of 8th graders. I may post some in the humor folder.

I read this comment on another board, what do you think?

"John McCain was nothing but insulting to the American people and to Senator Obama. From saying that we didn't know what Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were before this crisis is ridiculous and calling Senator Obama "that one" during the debate is about as condescending as you can get. Desperation will make a man look pretty bad, and that's what McCain looks like: a desperate, red-faced old man."

I did not like the part in the debate where McCain called Obama 'that one' especially after people criticized Obama for calling McCain 'John' in the last debate. Obama just seems more respectful which will be needed when dealing with world leaders. McCain just looks less and less presidential lately. I was going to vote for him up until a few weeks ago - now I am really leaning towards Obama.

mccain made an excellent point about obama running for election on a middle-class tax cut and then saying that he never brought it up once he was elected.

“When he ran for the United States Senate from Illinois, he said he would have a middle-income tax cut,” McCain said. “You know, he came to the Senate and never once proposed legislation to do that?”

good point.
