is anyone watching the debate? What do you think so far? Who is 'winning'? They don't seem to be answering many audience questions.

>>IMO, it's also in bad taste for obama to say something like 'when i'm president'.

That is a very common thing to say. Each of the candidates say it on a regular basis -- heck, they started doing it in the primaries. (I have noticed that Palin says something really long about being privileged, etc., etc.) It doesn't bother me at all to hear either candidate say, "When I'm president..."

>>I also felt Brokaw was slanted towards McCain. There were a few times Obama wanted to call McCain on lies he was telling, and wasn't allowed to respond.

I disagree. I think Brokaw was desperately trying to get the candidates to adhere to the rules they had agreed to. I felt badly for him. I also felt that he didn't handle things very gracefully. But I don't think he showed any bias toward either candidate.

What bothered me about McCain, and my 28 yr old son was watching with me and will be voting for the first time, was counting all the times McCain said "My Friends" and "I know how to do that"

I thought it was pretty boring. There was no new information, more political babble. I thought Obama looked most comfortable. I thought McCain looked angry and sounded patronizing at times ("that one" and "you probably didn't even know what Freddie Mac and Frannie Mae were"). Not a good night for him.

I wish we could have heard more specifics. If I were undecided, I'd be very frustrated at this moment.

I felt like I just wasted 2 hours for nothing. Tom Brokaw was awful, not only as a moderator, but if he was actually the one who chose the questions. I can't for one minute beleive that these were the most pressing issues on America's list. We've heard this before. I expected to hear more substance. Don't tell me your going to cut taxes, tell me where you're going to cut them and how, don't tell me you've got a healthcare plan that will either give me a credit or make it more affordable, tell me what it entails, so I can actually figure out if it will really affect me or not. I feel cheated. I don't know anything more about these 2 guys than I did before.

Obama is going to cut out the tax breaks for those who make over 250,000 = they will pay more than before.

McCain won...substance and experience over fluff and inexperience.

Like Obama, Clinton ran on a "middle-class tax cut," and guess what?...two months after he was elected he raised the taxes on the middle class...just like Obama is going to do if (God forbid) he gets elected.

Sounds like pretty small potatoes compared to the attacks and smears Obama has been throwing at McCain and Palin. If he can't take it, maybe he should go back to community organizing...at least he is qualified for that.
