is anyone watching the debate? What do you think so far? Who is 'winning'? They don't seem to be answering many audience questions.

Maybe it is different where you live, but you have to consider the ads are different in every state.
I did notice that even though they both agreed to keep the smears/slinging away from the debate and speak only of the issues (neither promised 100% truth on that btw) Obama did it anyway with the mention of the "Iran, Iran, Iran Chant" thing ....
In your post at 17254.24 in this thread, you mentioned that John McCain had the experience to fix various things. In post 17254.30, Rose asked you, as you have quoted in your response at 17254.34, why McCain hasn't done this yet, with all the time he has been in office. I quote your response below:
"We haven't elected him king yet."
Perhaps you are from a country other than America, or perhaps you are a very young person, who has grown up during the Bush years and knows no different, but contrary to what some people believe in the present administration, we do not elect kings in America. In fact, that attitude is one of the reasons that Obama is winning, that is, Americans are tired of elected officials, especially the President, believing they are selected by God, and have some sort of "divine right" to do as they please, just as kings of old believed.
Our government harks back to the Age of Greece, combining the Athenian idea of a democracy, in which the voters select their representatives, with the Spartans distrust of a single ruler, such that, like the Spartan's two kings, our government is divided into three co-equal branches.
In America, we do not select kings who rule us, but presidents who guide us, who trust us, who believe in us, and who understand that they are one amoug three branches who share power that has its roots in a grant given by the people.
For me, that is what this election is about.
The fact that ads aren't running much in your state is interesting.
I felt that they both did a pretty poor job of answering the questions and just kept repeating their rehearsed speeches, culled directly from their nasty campaign ads.
