is anyone watching the debate? What do you think so far? Who is 'winning'? They don't seem to be answering many audience questions.

October 7, 2008, 10:34 PMCBS Poll: Uncommitted Voters Say Obama Won Debate
Posted by Brian Montopoli

UPDATED CBS News and Knowledge Networks have, once again, conducted a nationally representative poll of uncommitted voters to get their immediate reaction to tonight's presidential debate.

And this new poll has good news for the Democratic ticket: Just as in the first presidential debate and the vice presidential face off, more uncommitted voters say the Democratic candidate won the debate. (We've updated this post with final numbers.)

Forty percent of the 516 uncommitted voters surveyed identified Barack Obama as tonight's winner; 26 percent said John McCain won, while 34 percent saw the debate as a draw.

After the debate, 68 percent of uncommitted voters said that they think Obama will make the right decisions on the economy, compared to 55 percent who said that before the debate. Fewer thought McCain would do so – 48 percent after the debate, and 41 percent before.

Before the debate, 59 percent thought Obama understands voters’ needs and problems; that rose to 80 percent after the debate. For McCain, 33 percent felt he understands voters’ needs before the debate, and 44 percent thought so afterwards.

Politically correct does not include "that one".

IF BO doesn't understand why the heck we went to Iraq in the first place I'd suggest he ask Joe Biden, his VP pick.

Regarding BO's plan to get us reduced health care premiums, it would seem that they only way to do that would be to demand that insurance companies lower their premiums. I am skeptical of this, as lately every time our government pokes its nose into the health insurance business my premiums have gone up (note the pork in the recent bailout.)

BO also thinks I am stupid with regards to his education policy. Noy buying your nonsense.

I did notice that even though they both agreed to keep the smears/slinging away from the debate and speak only of the issues (neither promised 100% truth on that btw) Obama did it anyway with the mention of the "Iran, Iran, Iran Chant" thing ....

But that IS one of the issues.

Ads may be running in my area, but not when I'm watching television or on the channels that I watch.

I guess we just have different perspectives. I haven't seen an Obama ad with any substance at all...and even when he tries do give some bits of details, they're filled with lies...like his 95% tax cut. He always speaks out of both sides of his mouth. With regard to the McCain ads I've seen, well, not too much substance there either, but how detailed can you get in 30 seconds. I've seen him speak and lay out more details and his plans sound much more workable. And as for the "smears"...if you want to see a smear campaign just take a look at Obama's mini-lie-fest on the "Keating 5." McCain's, on the other hand, bring up reasonable challenges to Obama's experience and judgment..."Tell me who your friends are, and I'll know who you are."
