I don't think that many small businesses make less then $250K -certainly those that do are likely sole props ......but is Obama talking about gross or net earnings? My gross earning FAR exceeds $250K.....if it did not I am not sure that I could employee many, pay my taxes, invest for the future AND earn a living.

I have looked into the Obama plan - he has no clue how small business works. Small business may very well die under Obama. If I die my employees will not have employment....and it is unlikely in this economy that they will be able to find new employment making the money I pay them, with the benefits they receive from me.

I keep my employees happy.....without my employees I am nothing. I reward my good employees....I don' t need government to make me do that.

"I'm assuming you are aware that, for much of the 20th century (and maybe even today) unions were consdired, by the moneyed corporate classes, to be the ultimate in socialist organizations.

I was exagerating, but the general idea of starving off R&D in those areas is very real:

"In real terms, spending on American biomedical research has doubled since 1994. By 2003, spending was up to $94.3 billion (there is no comparable number for Europe), with 57 percent of that coming from private industry. The National Institutes of Health’s current annual research budget is $28 billion, All European Union governments, in contrast, spent $3.7 billion in 2000, and since that time, Europe has not narrowed the research and development gap. America spends more on research and development over all and on drugs in particular, even though the United States has a smaller population than the core European Union countries. From 1989 to 2002, four times as much money was invested in private biotechnology companies in America than in Europe."

It would be net earnings.

In at least one interview, Obama said "we need to spread the wealth around".

If you are worried about socialism, it is too late.
