An Exercise for Us

I stopped responding a couple weeks ago because I thought it was fruitless.

I have an idea now, though, that I think might be worthwhile.

I ask everyone who is posting (who is a decided voter or not) to say two good things and two bad things about Obama and two good things and two bad things about McCain.

Obama/Good:

  1. is a very good speaker

  2. is a man who I honestly believe wants change

Obama/Bad

  1. doesn't seem capable of 'crossing' party lines

  2. doesn't seem to have a plan b for anything or willing to listen to other ideas

McCain/Good

  1. ready, willing and able to cross party lines

  2. is also a man I honestly believe wants change

McCain/Bad

  1. is not running an effective campaign

  2. I'm not convinced he 'gets' the average person but then again I am not sure any of them do

Obama
Good:
1) Raised by a single parent and grandparents so he understands the struggle American families are going through.
2) Is very intelligent, calm and focused even during the vicious attacks of late

Bad:
1) has less experience than McCain - although that might now be as bad as people think
2) Says 'um' a lot

McCain
Good:
1) Had a reputation of reaching across party lines
2) Believes in global warming

Bad:
1) Has made some bad judgment lately - Palin, 'suspending campaign', negative attacks
2)Doesn't seem to 'get it' about the economy and it's impact on American families

Looks like a very active place you have here - hope there is room for one more!

Good for Obama:

1) Supports a woman's right to choose.

2) Isn't willing to take superficial measures, like a gas tax holiday, just to get votes.

Bad for Obama:

1) Lack of experience.

2) Hasn't come up with a clearly defined plan to get us out of Iraq OR this current financial crisis.

Good for McCain:

1) Military and legislative experience.

2) History of reaching across the aisle for compromise.

Bad for McCain:

1) His own party hates him enough to force him to choose Palin as his running mate. (Lieberman would have been so much better for him.)

2) Hasn't come up with a clearly defined plan to get us out of Iraq OR this current financial crisis.

Obama Good:

1. He is a good speaker.

2. He seems to want to unite the country.

BAD:

1. He lacks experience, plans reflect that, too liberal.

2. He lacks judgment in the people he has surrounded himself with.

McCain GOOD:

1. Has the ability and has shown the ability to reach across party lines to get things done.

2. Wants to reduce the size of govt, and wants to keep govt out of our homes.

BAD:

1. His age will keep him from being a 2 term President.

2. He isn't running an effective campaign.

2 Good Things about Obama

1. Intelligent

2. Seems to be a good father

2 Bad things about Obama

1. Has the most liberal big spending voting record in the Senate.

2. Has not been truthful about alliances, raising taxes, promoting change.

2 Good Things about McCain

1. Has a proven 26 year track record in being right about important National Security issues, even against Ronald Reagan who he admired.

2. Has a proven track record of voting 100% of the time against earmarks and a large amount of time to cut taxes.

2 Bad things about McCain

1. Is too liberal on too many issues.

2. Has not run and effective enough campaign so far to suit me.
