It looks like McCain might be listening after all about all the negativity at his rallies:

I know that sometimes you need to go negative but he was going negative over the WRONG things. It really wasn't appealing and it just made him look like a cranky, intolerant old man and not the maverick that he tries to portray himself as.

Proof's in the pudding, though, Johnny Boy. Coming out in the press and "expressing concern" and suggesting that the tone ought to change gets you a nice round of "hey, that's mature" from the press corps....but if it's followed up by no actual actions in that direction, it's little more than empty rhetoric. In fact, it's worse than that, because if such statements aren't followed up by actions coinciding with the statements, then it's pretty clear it was a smokescreen done only for political expediency, and to delay further judgment against that type of rally.

>>It's only because it wasn't working that he spoke out against it.<<

ITA, I couldn't have said it better myself. I've said it before...his base is lapping this up but they are the only ones. It is one big turn off.

I couldn't disagree more on his policies or fitness to be President, and I still say Bravo John McCain. This is truly putting America First. I call it like I see 'em.
