Sarah Palin: GUILTY of Abuse of Power

Sarah did it! The standing Governor of Alaska is found Guilty of Abuse of Power by letting First Dude have so much access to state information, state employees, and making over 19 calls to pressure a state official to fire her BIL out of revenge. It was unlawful, but no charges??

I knew it. She did it as Mayor and got away with it. The McCain camp is making excuses as usual, instead of taking responsibility for her/their actions. Details will be released soon.

I formally propose we change that now-famous cliché from "Palling around with..." to "PALIN around with..."

I was responding to this:

"And it was Clinton's lying that got him impeached, not his sex act. So, what should happen to Sarah for lying about why she fired Monegan? That's actually a rhetorical question, because our votes in Nov. will answer that question."

that was posed in post 17360.5 in response to 17360.4

I think the wording of this report needs to be carefully considered.

Indeed it does. You can read the whole thing here, but here's the important part to focus on:

For the reasons explained in Section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) provides

"The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust."

I think a non-partisan investigation should be done.

I agree...fortunately, one already has been.

Ah, yes...."it's been said." "Some say."

The ultimate good news about this finding (other than the sense of vindication for Monegan) is the effect it will have on the upcoming election.

We've already seen, in less than twenty-four hours, how the hardcore wingnut base won't be affected in the slightest to learn that their VP choice was found by a panel of ten GoOPers and four Democrats to have violated state ethics regulations. But it isn't as if anyone who's been watching the wingnuts over the past few years couldn't have seen that coming a mile away.

What WILL happen, is that those famous "swing" or "uncommitted" or "moderate" voters who are perhaps still undecided or subject to having their votes changed, will be much less likely to have them "swing" towards the power-abusing McSame/Mooseburger ticket after these findings.

You're missing the point: she was within her rights as Governor to fire Monegan.

She was NOT within her rights (or state ethics regulations) to PRESSURE Monegan to fire Wooten, which she unquestionably did.

If you mean in the court-verdict sense of the word, then I suppose you are technically correct (Republicans love to be technically correct when they are essentially wrong). But then again, no one ever thought this would produce THAT sort of "guilty" verdict. However, the panel most certainly did find Palin "guilty" (if not in the criminal sense - because this was not a trial, LOL) of the following (from the report):

For the reasons explained in Section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) provides

>>Or it could be that "the left" is just posting what the Legislative Committee of the State of Alaska said - Palin abused her powers.

Oh for crying out loud!

Gosh.....that sure IS damning (not).

Answer me this: if the investigators were such biased hacks, why on EARTH did the majority of ten Republicans on the panel allow the investigation to go forward, and vote unanimously to release the findings? Hmmm? Did Hollis French brainwash them? Does he have pictures of each of them having sex with a moose? What could possibly be the reason for ten Republicans to vote that way, if they felt this was a partisan smear AGAINST THEIR PARTY?
