That's gotta hurt (video).

Especially since it occurs to me that this won't run in the "politics" or "national" section of the paper (though it may run there as well, after getting this kind of attention), but in the SPORTS section, where typically not-very-political folks hang out alongside their more-political brethren. The injection of this story into the sports world may be one of the few glimpses of politics that some segment of the electorate which doesn't bother reading those stories usually will get this season. And it wasn't pretty.

Especially when you consider some of the write ups. Here's Forbes, not exactly a buncha commies:

Palin Gets Booed in Philly! This is sure to be the headline splashed across television and newspapers Sunday morning, the day after the Republican Vice Presidential candidate and hockey mom from Alaska drops the puck at the ceremonial face-off for the Philadelphia Flyers' home opener on Saturday night at the soon-to-need-a-name-change Wachovia Center. What will be missing from the news: the jeers were deserved.

Ow. That's gonna sting. Even the AP, while not identifiable as a conservative or pro-business outlet in the way that Forbes is, said the following...which (unlike Forbes) will be read in dozens of papers around the country tomorrow:

Palin was booed when she first stepped on the ice before the Flyers' home opener against the New York Rangers to drop the ceremonial first puck. Palin, the Alaska governor and self-described "hockey mom," is trying to turn Pennsylvania into a red state.

Someone not long ago wrote up a post here about the "bloom being off the rose?"

I think they were right....just not about the right candidate.

Well to be fair, isn't Britney Spears an adult?

Let me get this straight....the label "whore" would be A-OK if applied to a female above the age of 18, but not one under that age, even if they were both in the same circumstances?

What goes around "comes" around - not surprised.

How many pounds of peanuts are consumed in the United States each year?

2.4 billion pounds! About 50% is consumed as peanut butter.

">> It's easier for Palin and her supporters to focus on other things.

< Like Barry's terrorist and racist friends? Yeah...let's focus on the things that really matter."

>>> You are repeating the hate lines from the campaign - like Palin saying Senator Obama "palls around" with terrorists. America is rejecting the hate.

I guess that's why 30% of independent voters said that they were "less likely" to vote for Obama because of the Ayres association. Your problem is that you confuse "hate" with the "truth"...and the truth is that Obama DID pal around with Ayres, who was a terrorist. No matter how much you want to deny the facts, they tend to follow you around.

>>> We've got real things to worry about which Bush, McCain and the Republicans should be accountable for:

>>> 1. The worst economic crisis since the Great Depression (no, sorry the economy is not fundamentally sound as McCain told us about two weeks ago and we are not a nation of whiners in a mental recession as his chief economic advisor who was largely responsible for the disastrous deregulation told us).

Let's take a peek at that situation, shall we? First of all, it was the Dems who pushed sub-prime mortgages...and then protected them when McCain and Bush tried to get reforms. It was also Dems, like Dodd and Obama who profited most from Fannie and Freddie. But when the actual “crisis” hit, McCain dropped everything to try and work on a plan. Barry? He said, "they'll call me if they need me." Hmmm...not to "Presidential," was it? And even now, with a TRILLION dollars allocated, his plan to spend, spend, spend has never wavered. He’s a liar and a fraud.

>>> 2. Two wars without end.

Aah…the incredibly inane “Bush’s war” argument. LOL! Hate to break it to you but Clinton was bombing Iraq before you even knew who GW was…and it was Clinton who declared “regime change” to be the new US policy towards Iraq at the urging of the Dem leadership who were afraid of Hussein’s WMDs and his NUCLEAR WEAPONS PROGRAM. And even after 9/11, the Dems were quick to jump on board the war train until, like the slugs they are, they found they could score some cheap political points with the ignorant masses who now support them.

And Obama, who claims that he was always “against the war”…is quite simply a liar…hey, who knew? He was pushed into making that “war speech” for political purposes. And was so staunch in his beliefs that he NEVER took a public anti-war position on the war after that speech and questioned his anti-war stance publicly several times.

But to address the “wars” as they exist now…McCain, ALONE, fought for a change in strategy that led to the surge. Obama and Biden were WRONG on every decision concerning the war and even actively fought for an American loss. Obama even voted to CUT funding for the troops…waddaguy! Waddascumbag! Even with the enormous success of the surge, Obama is such a self-centered egomaniac that he can’t bring himself to admit that he was wrong. What kind of integrity is that? Not very Presidential. And with things going very well in Iraq, what’s Obama’s plan…to retreat. A gutless prig who has the gall to say he wants to be Commander in Chief.

And finally to Afghanistan…for all Obama’s whining about “the cost of the war,” all Barry wants to do is take it on the road and spend just as much in Afghanistan…and his new war invading Pakistan as well. Again, he has lied to the American people...but that’s nothing new.

>>> 3. Public enemy number one still on the loose more than seven years after he and his gang perpetrated the worst attack on America since Pearl Harbor.

Right…because, unlike Obama, Bush wasn’t going to risk destabilizing an allied government or violating their sovereignty for the sake of a photo op. You really gotta question Barry’s policy here. It’s stupid and dangerous…and grown by a terribly inexperienced mind.

>>> 4. Runaway debt and deficits. Bush and McCain, with their imprudent tax cuts coupled with increased spending, doubled our national debt from 5 trillion to over 10 trillion in just 8 years. Now we are ill-prepared for the economic crisis and spending needs ahead.

LOL! More lies and propaganda. McCain can’t initiate tax cuts or authorize government spending. Also, I’ve really gotta tell ya how incredibly stupid it is every time the left whines about the spending without actually taking into account the BILLIONS spend on the wars defending the nation or the BILLIONS and BILLIONS spent, since 9/11, on ramping up national security. The ignoramuses on the left try to pretend that Bush and “his cronies” are spending frivolously, when it’s their guys who have their hands out for every program and piece of pork they can get their hands on.

And speaking about Obama…here’s a wackjob who believes that raising taxes and spending a TRILLION more will help during a bad economy. Every time he opens his big yap he proposes more spending…and the dopes on the left STILL cling to the ridiculous belief that he’s going to lower their taxes. ROFL!!! Boy, are you guys in for a rude awakening if, God forbid, he’s ever elected. I can hear the liberal apologists now.

>>> 5. Helping the middle class they have neglected and who have not benefited from any supposed trickles down from the massively wealthy Republican beneficiaries.

LOL! Enjoy the extra $40 bucks a month Obama’s gonna give you…y’all deserve it…and you’ll need it when businesses start cutting jobs and raising prices to make up for the taxes that Obama’s trying to saddle them with.
