What is up with this garbage? McCain and Palin have to put their foot down to stop this. McCain bears some responsibility because his campaign has fostered nasty rude attacks that dehumanize Obama. But at least McCain was man enough to realize the monster he has created and McCain tried to calm down his angry mobs of supporters.

Palin, on the other hand, doesn't seem to know or care how to act like a decent human being. She is really scary.

>>Oh I see.. still I thought Obama was very Liberal so I had to look.. because though I had heard he was thought maybe I should look.. LOL.. Found this -

And still by my standards, he's centrist. LOL. I'm way far left of Obama, so I laugh when I hear that label applied to him. It's all a matter of perspective, eh?

Please provide a link verifying your accusation's...if you can.

It may surprise you to learn; not all liberals are pro-choice.

Intelligent answer again. Sarcastic reply's do nothing for your credibility.

You STILL don't get it! I don't push my ideas on anyone. That's the point. You are the one pushing your beliefs on others. I agree, it's very arrogant! It's much better to let people make their own CHOICES!

What are you talking about?! Obama didn't dump a girlfriend because she wasn't white enough! Ayers made mistakes and made some bad decisions when he was 20. Now that he's in his 60's, and a respected professor, what's the problem? He did NOT get help buying his house with the help of a felon!! These lies are getting stupid.

If you want to go that route, let's get some verifiable facts out there! McCain just attended a fund raiser put on by a convicted felon, who has already been in prison! He also had a fund raiser by a fellow money funneler during Iran Contra. Spare me please!

< If Cindy had only ever worked for her own ambition and self interest, and received a million in earmarks for her company, or was involved in a shady deal to buy her house, and who has called America a "downright mean country" and said she's "never been proud of her country," she'd have been crucified in the press. Being black and rich, does buy you privileges.>

LOL. She wouldn't be going to jail for stealing thousands of dollars, to support her drug habit! You misquoted Michelle. She said she had "never been MORE proud " of her country. Quite different meaning than what you tried to say she said! The only person being black and rich ever helped, was OJ. Fortunately, he didn't have Johnny Cochran to defend him this time. There have been several non-partisan links posted, proving there was NOTHING shady about the deal to buy their house. The seller has gone on record, saying there was nothing shady in the sale of his home. The Obama's made three offers, and he accepted the third one. Just like anyone else negotiating the price of a house they want to buy.

I am not a "spade", so once again, start being respectful when posting.Stop the name calling.

Sadly, I think we're in for a bumpy ride. I don't envy the next president. He's going to have several fires to put out. It won't be easy. I hope whomever it is, they'll put politics aside to work everything out. We've had enough of voting down party lines, rather than what's good for the country. I don't know, but I think it'd going to get worse before it gets better. It also depends on age, as to how concerned people are.

"Sorry, I missed the "independence" in most of your posts."

I fear that's not all you missed.

not to go off on a bernie sanders tangent, but he is an AMAZING representative for us regular folk. that's more important to me than his political affiliation.

Crappy isn't it?

Our family was the subject of massive lay-offs when the high tech bubble burst. I worked for another company than DH....but the long and the short of it....We both got laid off simultaneously (along with thousands of qualified people in our area).

Don't know if you've heard of Nortel Networks - where DH and many friends of ours worked

That’s horrible, both around the same time.

I see him as a pragmatist....If that requires moving to the center in order to govern effectively, I believe he will.

DH got a job after about a year (at a lower pay but still not bad)...I did contracts from home (I'm a graphic designer) but it was either feast (well....a satisfying meal) or famine and I was getting tired of being home alone in my sweatpants.

I recently started a new job....Outside of my field and at substantially lower pay....but it's an interesting change and a nice challenge.

Yeah....don't fall too quickly for that stuff, Rose. In 2003 - surprise, surprise, John Kerry was the Senate's "most liberal." Kind of a coincidence, don't you think?

Here's Jake Tapper on the subject, and how the NJ arrived at their findings. Another good article on the flaws in the methodology PolitiFact's take, which notes that in the previous two years, Obama was ranked #10 and #16. Now, that may still seem high, but remember that we're only talking out of 100 here....and you would expect that in reality, we're only talking about closer to half that number, since Republicans can be generally counted on to place more on the "conservative" end of the spectrum than ANY Democrat (a generalization, I know, but a useful one for now). This Mother Jones article is also a good read on the subject. And, if you've still got the energy and interest, Steve Benen's take over at The Carpetbagger Report, is useful in examining the methodology a bit further (and includes some answers to a lengthy Q&A the National Journal gave after releasing the report).

Or, you could spare yourself the hassle, and just ask yourself if you genuinely believe that Barack Obama - who sought out Joe Lieberman as his mentor in the Senate, is truly more liberal than Bernie Sanders - a self-described socialist, or Russ Feingold, or Barbara Boxer. That ought to do it, all by itself, and you don't even need to resort to the "experts," LOL.
