BO fining parents

I was watching some of the debate from last week online because i missed it. McCain brought up that Obama wants to fine parents who do not have health insurance on their children.

I'm not sure how most people feel about this, but isn't health insurance just as important as shelter, education and food. I definitely think that not insuring your children should fall into the neglect category. People can complain about the cost of health care but if you can't afford having a child, don't have one.

I guess i was wondering what others thought about this.

Thats what i thought. Since he didn't deny it, i figured it was true. And i would support that. If you don't provide food for your child, you should lose it. As sad as it is, people die from a lack of health insurance so parents should be fined, in my opinion.

I see what you're saying, but i think that is a bit sick. Because you are born to poor parents, you get worse doctors? I don't think your status in life should say what type of health care you receive. Good health care should be a right, in my opinion. Not a privilege.

People in this country die because of a lack of health insurance. As sad as that is. I'm glad you're children were healthy but what if they had developed cancer or something? I would support fining parents just as i support human services taking your children away if you do not feed them.

"What about parents who can't afford health insurance?"

I'd say the same thing to parents who can't afford food or shelter. Don't have kids. If you can't raise a healthy child, you shouldn't raise a child period.

If something unexpected happens where you lose your job, you can have your children on state insurance. Your example isn't of a negligent parent.

"People can complain about the cost of health care but if you can't afford having a child, don't have one.

Typical Social Darwinist response."

Also called common sense.

"Another question .... what authority does the Federal government have to order someone to purchase health insurance?"

It should be. It is the governments job to take care of people who cannot take care of themselves. If someone refuses health insurance and they end up in the hospital for a long period of time, it will be tax payers who pay for it after they file for medical bankruptcy.

So you're an advocate of post-birth abortion as well? Interesting.

And FBI investigation. LOL! Just how did Rita Rezko get the money to buy the lot that helped Obama get his precious house? Hmmm...and an $800K "accounting error" to a subsidiary of ACORN who's now falsifying the Dem voter registrations in favor of Obama. Hmmm...

The problem is the definition of "people who can not take care of themselves" can be changed on the whims of the powers that be. Personally I think anyone who doesn't have health insurance is making a very foolish choice. However, freedom requires that we allow people to be foolish. How much less freedom should we accept?
