I was under the impression Sara Palin's child had downs not autism. How could he keep screwing this up?

You're not the first person who pointed to Piper's always holding Trig as if there's something "amiss" there...I've read it quite a bit on these boards. Just to give some perspective: I have a baby and 7 year old and an almost 6 year old. The older 2 sometimes argue over who gets to hold the baby. And because allowing my children to care for and protect one another teaches love, respect, generosity, gentleness and responsibility, I love it when they help out and take care of the baby. It gives them such a boost, and they really are proud of themselves. Most kids Piper's age LOVE to help out with their baby siblings, and if they've been taught right, can be very good at it. I think it's wonderful that a child is willing and able to be loving and caring for such a small child, and think of the compassion and gentleness Piper must naturally have. Plus, think how great she feels about herself and what a self-esteem boost that is for her when she sees herself on TV doing such a great job loving on her brother. A family that raises a child to be so good with a baby sibling should be commended, not suspected. I don't see why, if Piper is willing and enjoys spending time and caring for her baby brother, that is somehow an indicator of some flaw or that it should be a point of criticism in any way.
And if my memory serves, Todd held a sleeping Trig nearly the entire time she spoke at the convention. And I'm sure Sarah spends a great deal of time with him--why should she make it a point to put on the show of holding him--she's his mom, and she breastfeeds him, of course she holds him. In my personal experience, large families in particular tend to do a lot of baby passing, and Mom has plenty of baby holding time, as well as the rest.
I have one with aspergers.
