Bingo. "Joe" was someone Obama met on the campaign trail, had one interaction with, and that would have been IT, had it not been for the McCain handlers (who seem to have the political instincts of dung beetles, searching out and burrowing deeply into the largest pile of crap they can find), thinking there was GOLD in them thar...uh...toilets. They brought "Joe" into it, and, by his insistence on holding a mini-press conference today, he has literally invited scrutiny, to see if they mythos we're being expected to believe about him actually matches up with the reality. This will be the shortest fifteen minutes of notoriety ever.
Especially when you stop to consider that Friedkin is the director of The French Connection, and - even more notably - The Exorcist.
Not since the letter to the Kansas School Board that eventually spawned The Church Of The Flying Spaghetti Monster have I read a funnier response to a nasty or ludicrous semi-form letter. Awesome.
Joe the Tax-Cheatin', Unlicensed Plumber would never have been mentioned by Obama last night, had not McCain brought it up. After the second or third time McCain brought it up, I think Obama must have figured that the McCain strategists had decided to try to fix their talking points around this guy for the entire evening, so he went with it - with pretty good effect, if you have a look at any of the snap polls.

Just another McCain campaign blip of failing to vet someone they were going "to use" to score some votes.

Hardly.
