Atrocious to Smear a Private Citizen

I think it is atrocious for the press to try to smear a private citizen who merely used his first amendment rights to question a candidate! He didn't ask for all this attention, and he has not stated who he will be voting for, but since John McCain received some points in the debate last night about an exchange "Joe the Plumber" had with Barack Obama the press is out to destroy this man. Good Grief! The man is a plumber! An average citizen. Now the left wing is trying to vilify him like he's George Bush! How HORRIBLE! And the extremists on the left seem to be following in lock step. No compassion for an ordinary man UNLESS he shares their socialist viewpoint. This is about as dirty as it gets!

like a lot of PP's wrote, he's fair game, cause McCain is the one who told America about him. I never heard of the guy before then. but, i ain't going to be a "horrible" person and smear him. that kinda sucks for him and i'm sure he probably regrets agreeing to McCain talking about him. oh well, such is life....

>>If you are a "journalist" for Huffington Post or Daily Kos I have sorted through the "stacking the deck" propaganda that is used and have no respect for that kind of journalism.

For the most part, I don't consider those outlets to be journalism. I was under the impression that you were speaking of traditional, reputable, non-biased news outlets. I didn't realize that you were confusing blogs with actual reporting.

No...He is being scrutinized because McCain EXPLOITED the situation by using him as a key part of his debate. The question

<<Amazing and utterly frightening.>>

Well...I hope you read O'Reilly's remarks I posted about the (11-15 year old) Hornbeck

Can you not admit that McCain was wrong for exploiting his new "buddy" whom he hadn't even met or asked permission to use his name in such an internationally public media event?

(by the way....I did just provide a couple of examples of right wing smear tactics on private citizens).

Do you not remember her situation and what her husband went through in the media and radical right?

I'm sure Fox news is also interested in this guy.

...and what do you THINK would happen? Or more importantly, McCain....The man can't be that naive!

Um....experience?

When he mentions his name a WHOLE bunch of times in much anticipated debate watched my millions of people all over the world (rather than just in passing, as is usually done when mentioning a person's name at these things) is it surprising that people would be curious about this person? If they found something untoward....well that's how the media works.

I think you're overblowing his status as a victim just a tad as well. I suspect he'll get a lot of plumbing business out of his new found notoriety.
