Atrocious to Smear a Private Citizen

I think it is atrocious for the press to try to smear a private citizen who merely used his first amendment rights to question a candidate! He didn't ask for all this attention, and he has not stated who he will be voting for, but since John McCain received some points in the debate last night about an exchange "Joe the Plumber" had with Barack Obama the press is out to destroy this man. Good Grief! The man is a plumber! An average citizen. Now the left wing is trying to vilify him like he's George Bush! How HORRIBLE! And the extremists on the left seem to be following in lock step. No compassion for an ordinary man UNLESS he shares their socialist viewpoint. This is about as dirty as it gets!

Would he have been punished if he had supported Obama's socialist plan?

If he were depending upon experience, then there is NO experience of this ever happening to an ordinary person who didn't put himself into the story before. That excuse doesn't hold any water.

There was NO reason to think this would happen. This is a new low.

And you said, "I'm sure Fox news is also interested in this guy." What do you mean by that? Why do you and others keep making comments like this? I haven't said anything about Fox.

As I recall, her family petitioned their congressman for help. These two situations are completely different. This man did not initiate anything in an effort to try to draw public attention to himself or his situation.

He wasn't wrong.

Why don't you think it was "fair" that McCain used it? Because it was effective in making a very valid point? There was nothing "unfair" about it.

That type of attitude frightens me. He should not be punished for "agreeing with McCain". He should have a right to non punitive free speech no matter who he agrees with.

Could you direct me to the post? I can't find it. (Also, I can't stand Bill O'Reilly. I think he's an egotistical idiot, but I will weigh what he said and give you an honest opinion).

Taken from your post: "The particular implementation of government programs which may seem purely humanitarian, such as disaster relief, can actually be a form of class conflict"

So disaster relief is part of your CLASS WARFARE - well then I surely hope you don't live in an area prone to earthquakes, tornadoes, wildfires, hurricanes, blizzards or any other form of natural disaster or you might be subject to some class warfare. Let us know what state you are in and maybe we can make sure none of those evil disaster relief funds make it your way next time around! Seriously you need to stop drinking republican Kook-Aid. There is no class warfare - just more of the fear and smear campaign.

The names of an individual are used - this is true. The names are generally used ONCE to MAKE A POINT. Joe's name was used repeatedly - this becomes a teaser to the media and begs for further clarification. Name ONE time in the history of campaigns that a private citizen had his name brought up over 20 times to make a point -you can't because it has never happened. That is the reason Joe has become part of the circus - and who kept bringing his name up? McCain. McCain made him the backdrop of his debate strategy. McCain has further told the media he plans to continue using him in the comment to the effect of 'we will be spending more time together' so I am sorry to inform you that YOUR argument does not wash. It is McCain who created this mess for Joe, a plumber he had never met. McCain who was willing to use this poor man for his political gain. Just have to wonder how badly it will backfire.
