Atrocious to Smear a Private Citizen

I think it is atrocious for the press to try to smear a private citizen who merely used his first amendment rights to question a candidate! He didn't ask for all this attention, and he has not stated who he will be voting for, but since John McCain received some points in the debate last night about an exchange "Joe the Plumber" had with Barack Obama the press is out to destroy this man. Good Grief! The man is a plumber! An average citizen. Now the left wing is trying to vilify him like he's George Bush! How HORRIBLE! And the extremists on the left seem to be following in lock step. No compassion for an ordinary man UNLESS he shares their socialist viewpoint. This is about as dirty as it gets!

I don't remember if it was you or not....but someone (probably more than one) have spoken about their disgust with the "Liberal" media. Fox isn't Liberal, but it's definitely part of the mainstream media and they seem to be just as curious about this guy (and just as willing to talk about him).

I hope he is able to capitalize on his new found notoriety. This thread was started yesterday right after I heard all the "dirt" on him put forth by the left wing, and I thought then, as I think now, that's pretty low. It made me angry. This guy was innocent. However, he does seem personable, and I am happy for him for his 15 minutes of fame. I think the attempted smear will probably backfire.

Well, they aren't going to get what they want. Most Americans still believe in non-punitive free speech. They've really stepped in it this time.

Well that's your view and nothing can change it.

My view is that he could have talked about Joe the Plumber in order to use him as a real world example 'till the cows came home as far as I'm concerned....but he should have informed him first (AND his staff should vetted Joe to make sure he was what McCain thought he was, based upon a passing impression gleaned by viewing a brief clip Joe asking Obama a question).

As I see it, there were two errors of judgement on McCain's part. One, not vetting Joe....and two, not informing Joe that he would be made into the cornerstone of his internationally televised final debate for the presidency.

All I can say is how I would feel if I turned on the television one night and found one of our Canadian leaders using my name (not just once....not just twice....but over and over again) in a high profile speech or debate seen by millions of people.

I would feel used and upset that I was not first informed and given the opportunity if that was my desire, to say "Thanks, but no thanks".

Nothing surprises me about that. The main stream media has an agenda which favors Democrats and they "report" according to that agenda. This means going after the slightest thing that may damage a Democrat and trying to Damage even an ordinary citizen if necessary, and refusing to report obvious damaging things that pertain to a Democrat. This has been going on for as long as I can remember. At least now we have other sources for news. Thank goodness for the internet, but if Obama gets elected, he and his Democrat majority in congress will quell free speech on the radio. That will probably be the first move, before passing the billions in new social programs when the country is in a recession, and raising taxes and throwing us into a deep deep depression where we really need to depend upon the government to survive.

He is NOT being punished for "agreeing with McCain"....but this is how you have chosen to view the situation and obviously nothing can be done to convince to even consider briefly standing back and viewing it any other way.

This man didn't have to be "vetted". How ridiculous. He is not running for office! His situation made a valid point. The Democrats do not like to be exposed this way so they GO AFTER THE PLUMBER! THAT is the issue.
