Atrocious to Smear a Private Citizen

I think it is atrocious for the press to try to smear a private citizen who merely used his first amendment rights to question a candidate! He didn't ask for all this attention, and he has not stated who he will be voting for, but since John McCain received some points in the debate last night about an exchange "Joe the Plumber" had with Barack Obama the press is out to destroy this man. Good Grief! The man is a plumber! An average citizen. Now the left wing is trying to vilify him like he's George Bush! How HORRIBLE! And the extremists on the left seem to be following in lock step. No compassion for an ordinary man UNLESS he shares their socialist viewpoint. This is about as dirty as it gets!

'the left' is who exactly? Is the left just one or two people? Is the left just people who find things you wish had not been found? Is the left just the people who shed a damaging light on your candidate? Or is it just a convenient way to try to deflect the line of reasoning?

Really? What pertinent facts am I leaving out? It's obvious this guy has been smeared because of his views against socialism. I'm sorry to inform you that MOST people in America oppose Socialism. Only the extreme left wing welcomes and embraces it. That is a very small (but loud, granted) number of Americans. I highly doubt that there is ONE ordinary person IN THIS ENTIRE COUNTRY that has lead a life so pure that there is NOTHING that could be dug up that could smear them if the press is feeling punitive. The fact is, this man did not deserve this. He did not ask for this attention. He is not running for any office. He has not even stated WHO he supports, if anybody.

It is clear which body is out of line here. It's not John McCain.

No I don't read either Daily Kos or Huffington Post - never have. I don't see the need frankly. During the debate McCain certainly did mention his name first, and second, and third, and fourth, and fifth, and sixth, and seventh.....

It was the repeated mentioning of his name that piqued media attention. And who did that? McCain.

Hey, he milked his moment in the spotlight for all it's worth.

Yep most people disapprove of the socialist bail out of the banking industry. Remember McCain 'suspending' his campaign to get that accomplished. Seems McCain isn't as opposed to the socialist agenda as you would like to believe!

No one cares about Joe's views on socialism - but his take on whose tax plan is better for him personally was wrong. I don't really care about that either. People are free to make bad decisions - happens everyday and clearly this won't be the first bad decision Joe has made, probably not the last either. I don't really see how he has been 'smeared' as he seems to be welcoming the attention.

"Smear - To stain or attempt to destroy the reputation of; vilify"

How has he been vilified? He seems to be enjoying the attention - not exactly the definition of smearing.

THE PRESS CHASED HIM DOWN! He wasn't out there offering to do interviews! That is pretty evident by the one I posted. He is a normal guy who did what most normal people would do when suddenly barraged by the press. He was humble, and was NOT playing to this.

*snort*...a simple "no comment" would have sufficed and his life would have remained private.
