Atrocious to Smear a Private Citizen

I think it is atrocious for the press to try to smear a private citizen who merely used his first amendment rights to question a candidate! He didn't ask for all this attention, and he has not stated who he will be voting for, but since John McCain received some points in the debate last night about an exchange "Joe the Plumber" had with Barack Obama the press is out to destroy this man. Good Grief! The man is a plumber! An average citizen. Now the left wing is trying to vilify him like he's George Bush! How HORRIBLE! And the extremists on the left seem to be following in lock step. No compassion for an ordinary man UNLESS he shares their socialist viewpoint. This is about as dirty as it gets!

Also....Factcheck has found all kinds tax increase bills that Obama supported... *(Nobody has been able to find one he sponsored, though, like he promised to do when running for the Senate).

"Certainly Obama's votes indicate a willingness to raise taxes, and Obama has not been shy about saying explicitly that he will raise some taxes. We'll leave it to you to decide what you think about Obama's record and his specific proposals. But we do find that the McCain campaign is simply wrong to say Obama supported raising taxes on those making "as little as $32,000 a year." In fact, according to the Tax Policy Center, only the top 10 percent of earners would see increases under Obama's plan, with most of the burden falling on the top 1 percent."

I think it's interesting, too, that Obama is now saying he only wants to raise taxes on the top 5%, but clearly the record indicates otherwise. See above. This entry was in July. Since then McCain has clarified that Obama voted to raise taxes on those making as little as $42,000 per year...

"Joe the Jerk"? Thanks for making my point for me. Obama's publicity stunt backfired because he couldn't control what kinds of tough questions the real people out there might ask him. He thought if he went to a very blue collar neighborhood, that everyone would give him softballs. Then with camera's running an ordinary citizen challenges him. That was his mistake, not Joe the Plumber's. Now the press is vilifying this ordinary citizen because of his views. Sad.

The "right wing" was abusive to Cindy Sheehan, not the press. Are you saying that the left wing and the press are the same thing? That is true, but usually the left doesn't admit it. The press made her into a celebrity that they wanted everyone to love and put on a pedestal. They didn't try to dig up any dirt on her. Also, it was CINDY who put herself out there from the beginning. She is the one who was demanding attention.

There were several times that Obama could have supported a middle class tax cut according to Factcheck.org. Sadly he lied to the people who elected him to congress about this. He didn't introduce any legislation regarding a middle class tax cut as he promised, and he voted against any legislation that could have cut taxes for them. Why do you think he's not lying now about it? What people DO is more powerful than what they SAY.

The liberals of this country are making an example out of this average “Joe.” If you disagree with Obama you will be crucified. What’s it called when a dissenting opinion ensures your demise? Isnt there are name for it?

Totalitarianism (or totalitarian rule) is a concept used to describe political systems where a state regulates nearly every aspect of public and private life. The term is applied to Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, the Soviet Union, and some other communist countries. Totalitarian regimes or movements maintain themselves in political power by means of an official all-embracing ideology and propaganda disseminated through the state-controlled mass media, a single party that controls the state, personality cults, control over the economy, regulation and restriction of free discussion and criticism, the use of mass surveillance, and widespread use of terror tactics.

Citizens beware! This is just your freedom of speech. What’s next?

Seems we lost free speech back in 2003.

"Ten days before the 2003 invasion of Iraq, lead vocalist Natalie Maines said "We don't want this war, this violence; and, we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas", (the Dixie Chicks' home State). The ensuing controversy, by people who supported an invasion and war in Iraq, cost the group half of their concert audience attendance in the United States and led to charges of the three female bandmates being un-American, enduring hate mail, and the destruction of their albums as a protest against the bandmates' comments"

Unless you stay on the 'approved talking points' then you can say whatever the 'right' approves of including calling one of the presidential candidates a terrorist.

This is hogwash, Totalitarism, malarkey. I wish the Republicans on this board could get time machined back to the 1700's and just see how bad things were back then for anybody who wasn't considered to be "The Gentry". Where you were fined for not attending church at least once a month, where if you stole a horse, you were hanged. If you were poor and stole food, you were branded with a "T" on your hand. I think the Republicans would like living back then, if they were Gentry!
