Right now I would vote for Donald Duck if he was running against McCain. I voted for McCain once in the last primary - I won't do it again. I call myself a republican because that is what I registered as way back in the 60's when I registered to vote. I have voted republican for the last 40 odd years. You can call my voting record into question if you want but it is exactly that kind of thinking that is pushing me away from the republican party. If you don't think like us you can't be one of us. Well I would venture to think I have been a republican long before you so I don't take kindly to that sort of thinking. This new breed of republican is not for me.
I still don't understand why a republican would vote for the candidate that is the furthest from republican beliefs. I know McCain is not the ideal republican, but Obama sure isn't even in the ballpark.
So, again, what is the reasoning behind your decision to vote for Obama? Or what is it about McCain that would make you choose Obama?
If Mr. McCain let himself be badgered into a disastrous VP choice (bad for his election chances and horrible for the country's well being if elected) I don't think that absolves him of any blame.
I have never been more thoroughly disgusted by a political campaign in my life. I cannot support the way this campaign has been waged. I was not impressed with the tone of the convention, then I attended a McCain/Palin rally shortly after the convention and was even less impressed with the tone. Since that time I just can't fathom why John thinks this is an honorable campaign. Originally I voted for him because I have not been happy with the last 4 years of Bush, who I did vote for twice, but since the primary John has completely lost focus and direction on more than one occasion. I don't agree with many of Obama's policies, but I do appreciate his intelligence and thoughtfulness. I have hope that he will seek out the best advice - I am no longer convinced that John will do the same. His pick of a running mate, he starts and stops with his campaign and with the economy cause me to rethink his judgment. I have lost faith and confidence in him. I think it is time for a change of direction. I think my primary vote would have been better cast with Romney, and I am regretting that decision now. I don't want to compound that mistake by voting for McCain again.
>>> What have I had specifically in the last 8 years. Well, seeing prices go up faster than my Dh's paycheck, seeing the job I loved being eliminated to "save money" where I worked.
Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc. If you haven't looked at the price of milk lately, you'll notice that it's more expensive than it was 8 years ago...and 25 years ago. What I asked was what specific Bush policies have caused prices to "go up faster than your Dh's paycheck." Specifics please.
>>> I bring it on myself to come in here and read the posts saying how Bush was right to invade Iraq even when it had NOTHING to do with 9/11.
Ok...forget the 9/11 connections (even though that was the impetus for everything that followed)...what the President was faced with in Iraq was a rogue nation ruled by an anti-American, anti-Israel dictator who refused to denounce terrorism and who was believed to have a stockpile of WMDs and a burgeoning nuclear weapons program. This situation was exacerbated by a decade of failed attempts to rein in Hussein and his refusal to comply with UN demands for inspections. You can dispute this with your "opinion," but in 2003 these were held to be the facts by both the Republicans and the Democrats, the UN and our allies.
You're a national security expert, who obviously disagrees with the decisions made by the President, the Congress, the UNSC and our allies, so what would you have done differently to protect the interests of the nation and our allies when confronted with that threat?
>>> then the constant posts truing to make Obama into a monster of sorts, according to the conservatives. Plus lots of personal issues, etc.
Not a "monster"...just a man with very little experience
...no record of any significance beyond proving that he's the most liberal Senator (quite an achievement considering his brief time in the Senate)
...proof that he's a Washington player with nearly a BILLION dollars in earmarks and receiving the second highest amount of money from Fannie/Freddie (again, quite an achievement considering his brief time in the Senate)
...many, many questionable close relationships with people with questionable character (Rezko: financial advisor: felon...Ayres: education advisor: terrorist...ACORN: political assoc: corrupt...Pflaeger: religion advisor: racist...Wright: religion advisor, personal mentor: racist, anti-American)
...Marxist philosophies and policies that will harm our national security, damage the US economy and hurt the American people.

All facts...all Obama.
