>>> Any oil from more off shore drilling will take 10 yrs before it's reality, this Drill Baby Drill is a bit of a joke.

Actually, no...you're just parroting Dem lies and propaganda. The FACT is that where the infrastructure already exists we can have oil production within 1-2 years and within 3-5 in more remote areas...plus it would create jobs, generate revenue for the states and pump 150 billion into our economy instead of foreign economies.

"H. Sterling Burnett, senior fellow at the National Center for Policy Analysis in Washington, argues that expanding drilling in US waters would add to the pool of oil from stable, reliable sources – helping curb speculation. He says opponents of drilling overestimate the time frame for new development, and some projects have turned around in 18 months."

>>> Face it, the conservatives have their way of thinking and we have ours. I'm sure there are areas we could agree on, but they are few and far between.

Sad but true. I can't fathom being so wrong so much of the time...and being proud of it.

>>> I certainly don't believe in this "trickle down effect" I think that's a big joke.

If you or your DH have a job, ask your boss what the company would do if Obama raised their taxes. Watch how quickly their reaction "trickles down."

Could it be that the Republicans of today are not your grandparents Republicans? This Administration certainly hasn't been Fiscally Conservative, I don't even remember so much emphasis on religion or trying to overturn Roe V Wade, I don't remember the Religious Rightous trying to run and control things.

Um, Obama said he is willing to go along with off shore drilling IF we also do other things to become less dependent on OIL.

You don't need to understand. It is what it is. I am hardly the only republican who is voting for Obama. If you want to vote for McCain then go ahead. I think you are making a mistake, but I don't question your right to do so. What I have to ask you is who are you to question my right to vote how I please? Why don't you google Republicans for Obama - you might find the answers you seek there.

Obama's an idiot. Drilling and other forms of energy development aren't mutually exclusive...and he opposes off-shore drilling. He was only willing to make the most modest of concessions because he discovered that the American people were against him and the gutless prig was willing to pander for political expediency.

I haven't questioned that at all. What I have done is ask you 3 times what your reason was for making a complete 180 in your voting pattern, and for some reason you are unable to provide an answer.

You are the one that came on here and made this declaration, then all of a sudden you are evasive as to your reasons. It just seems a little odd, doesn't it? I'm just trying to figure out what would lead to such a change after so long voting for one party.

Can you provide links to other boards where you've posted this, maybe I can look at those responses?

>>I voted for McCain in the primary - he is no longer the man I voted for. If you can't see the change then by all means stick by him.<<

I voted for Hilary in the primary (and I'm in FL where it didn't count but I still voted for her) When I saw that it going to be between Obama and McCain I told my DH I was voting for McCain. It didn't take long for me to come to my senses. You are right, he has gone from true maverick to trying to make the whole republican party happy to now just pandering to his base. It really isn't the same McCain.
