YOU can cut to the chase, but I will not. We liberals aren't stupid--we research, think things through, analyze the pros and cons for ourselves AND for our fellow Americans, and then we decide.

I'm sure you know that by "cut to the chase" I mean to get to the point (or back to it).

I realize that, I'm not angry with you. I'm just annoyed that people even have to wonder about the negative adds, guess I have seen more than a boatload from some here, but not you, so don't think I feel that way.

BTW, Sorry about your mother-in-law is it who died from Breast Cancer? My cousin has had it twice, was doing ok and now they found mastasticies in her abdoman, and she is now getting Chemo. She is 62. I hope she makes it through.

Well, we fundamentally disagree. You seem to think of it as a zero sum game, I do not. We don't need the government taking over healthcare. They do an absolutely lousy job with education. No competition, no problem.

I just moved from a town because the school system was crap, but I was paying for it. I didn't want to, I was forced to through taxes. I went to the next town over, where there is a quality school system.

Where else can you open a business, right next to a competitor that is one of the best around, sell an inferior product, and have just as much sales as the top ranked guy?

Yes, I realize McCain was attacked on the boards for his negative campaigning, and yes, Obama has spent more, he has had to to answer to the adds that McCain has put out there, so he is spending more to answer to the attacks. So, yes, I agree, I have seen MORE from Obama trying to explain McCain's negative and false attacks.

You said that even if you were to provide the links to support your statement that corporate taxes here are higher than all other countries, that I would not listen to you, I replied, "try me".

You then said, "let's not cut to the chase", but still provided NO support! So I said I will not cut to the chase. I need backup.

After adding the 15-25% VAT/GST imposed by the OECD countries to their corporate tax rates of around 25%, the effective rates paid by corporations in the U.S. are not much different than those in other countries. I know that's an oversimplification, as the allowable corporate tax deductions also vary greatly among nations. Corporate tax revenues as a % of GDP are slightly lower than in other OECD countries.

I don't think we want to adopt a regressive VAT, but that's exactly what will have to happen if McCain keeps cutting corporate and individual tax rates.

==========================================================================

I agree that reducing taxes on investment in equipment and R&D will bring the U.S. more in line with the other OECD countries; McCain's 10% decrease in the corporate tax rate is not the right move.

Below is a link that compares the cost of the candidates' technology and innovation proposals, and I'd say Obama's new, focused proposals are superior to McCain's more-of-the-same. Yes, I still feel I made the right choice in voting for Obama.
