Try to become wealthy???????????? HOW? at age 59 am I gonna become wealthy except for getting lucky and winning the lottery. Tell, me please, how do I become wealthy at 59 and semi disabled? Oy VEY! I have been helping my son and grandson with what little I have, I am afraid I may not have enough money to pay bills. I really don't know why you think I will get 500? I honestly don't think you realize that with McCain, may employers will say, buy your own ins. at me and my Dh's ages, both 59 we both have pre-exhisting conditions, me more than him. You make me want to go cry, now you have me even more depressed, Geee THANKS!
I think that contrary to your call for explanation - you are the one who is still lacking a clear argument. You tell me that just because I believe something does not make it so - and that is the essence of my entire point. Just because you believe his policies to be Marxist, does not make them so. My point is that all policies have intellectual origins from all over the board, and picking one or two policies does not prove a point. Further, asking someone to prove something to the contrary - as you did in your previous point - is where I made my mistake. You are asking for non-falsifiable evidence which is where my training should have told me to step away - there is no evidence in the world that would change your assertion that Obama is a Marxist (I am assuming that even if Karl Marx himself were alive to review these policies and express his disdain for Barack Obama, you would continue to throw your vitriolic insults into the arena and declare exceptions!)
Especially love your point: There is nothing in McCain’s policies that even remotely resembles fascism. The end.
Your logic is underwhelming.
Enjoy your opinions - I can say at the very least that I am grateful you are engaged in the process and based on the strength of your convictions you plan to vote. However, I am not interested in one-sided, unreasonable reactions to arguments. The point in my posting in the first place was only to challenge all of us to re-evaluate our assumptions and what we are hearing in an emotional, charged election climate. I try to do that on a daily basis, despite your assertion of my "ignorance", and I hope everyone else does too.
No further explanations from me to mileainm, but I sincerely welcome other challenges and arguments. From an academic side, I am fascinated by the way the propoganda on both sides has taken hold with all supporters - (Obama is a terrorist, Obama is a Marxist, McCain is racist, McCain is out of touch). I really hope we can all step back and use our collective brains to step outside of the campaign marketing and see the men for what *I believe* they are: two politicians who both want the best for us and our country, but who have fundamental disagreements about the best path to take.
Wow you certainly got to the gist of the problem quickly. May I direct you to the ignore feature? It is quite useful when you get tired of opinions presented as facts or being accused of 'drinking the kool aid'. I loved reading all of your posts - very educational!
I am new here - thanks for the welcome. I LOVE well-reasoned debate and banter and am hoping to find some here. I also LOVE politics and am passionate about it.
RE: your question about Canada - I don't think you can call it a Socialist nation at all. Canada has a freely operating, private economy - and that is the first tell-tale sign. There are European economies (and Asian/Latin American) that come much, much closer (but not quite the whole cigar) than Canada, and they still miss the mark.
I think the "Canada is socialist" idea has its roots way back in the Cold War for the US, and is based on a misunderstanding of individual policies vs. entire economic systems.
Does that make sense? Would love to know your thoughts.

I WAS JOKING! LOL! C'mon, get a sense of humor! But seriously...the way to become wealthy is to create something that makes money while you sleep. Any interesting business or product ideas? How about writing a book about something that interests you? The world is at your feet.
>>> I have been helping my son and grandson with what little I have, I am afraid I may not have enough money to pay bills.
Don't you think it's time your son and grandson took care of themselves? At some point you've got to let the little birds fly on their own...and see to your own life...you only get one, you know.
>>> I really don't know why you think I will get 500?
You said you pay $4500 for your insurance...McCain is going to give you $5000...simple math...$500 left over for you. Buy a computer or put your kids through college, like Obama says. ; )
>>> I honestly don't think you realize that with McCain, may employers will say, buy your own ins. at me and my Dh's ages, both 59 we both have pre-exhisting conditions, me more than him.
Interestingly, that exact thing happened in Hawaii with their "universal health care" for children. People started dropping their insurance and signed up for the government program and drove the program out of business. What do you think might happen if a program like that were operated on a national scale? Why would an employer provide insurance if the government is willing to do it? Why would someone pay for their own insurance when they can get it from the government? Hmmm...
