Hmm......you say "Obama could murder, steal, burn down buildings, or blow up political buildings like his buddy, William Ayers. He would still be perfect to his delusional supporters. Why? Didn't you know? Obama is God! lol. hahaha"
"Why is there so much PRESSURE to vote for Obama anyway? He seems OK, but everyone sees him as God or something. "
How are you being "pressured" to vote for Obama ? Does the fact that people around you are speaking their minds, and you don't agree with them amount to pressure ?
Just curious.
It seems to me you co-workers are speaking their minds, and you interpret that as pressure.
>>> If you really want to "debate" an individual's vocational choices, my suggestion is, take it off the board. It really has no place here.
If you'd have taken the time to actually read the posts, it would have been very clear that I wasn't debating "an individual's vocational choices," but rather addressing the complaints issued concerning the choices they have made and offering suggestions about how to improve their situation.
While all the measures you suggest are sound, they do NOT ensure that a person will "make it in America", unless your definition of "making" it is a low standard of living. I have seen people who worked hard, followed the rules, kept their noses clean, and due to catastrophe, often health-related, have lost their ability to earn a living and keep a decent standard of living. There are also jobs which just don't pay enough for a family unless both spouses work; in which case, who raises the children so those children don't succumb to the lure/peer-pressure of drugs, alcohol, or unprotected sex?
These are the things which I consider vital to that "decent" standard:
Safe affordable housing Well-balanced nutritious meals Serviceable clothing Access to life-long learning opportunities Access to reasonably priced health care
And in answer to your question about whether workers get "insurance, disability, workerman's comp, retirement pensions and bonuses", the answer is "no, many of them do not". In fact, a number of small business owners have been forced to shift at least part of the cost of health care insurance to employees; and pensions have largely become a thing of the past. The 401K has been far more common and its ability to provide for retirees has certainly taken a hit in the recent Bush-spawned economic storm.
I know--my DH is a small business owner.

Ignorance is Nature's most abundant fuel for decision making.
Skill is a measure of a worker's expertise, specialization, wages, and supervisory capacity. Skilled workers are generally more trained, higher paid, and have more responsibilities than unskilled workers.
Hey, here's an article that might be of interest...Pennsylvania's a lovely place.
