I fail to see the point in bringing up the wives of the candidates. Family should really be left out of the smear campaigns. I think the stress on the wives is enough without the additional stress of media spotlight. Cindy McCain has her faults certainly but she has also been quite a philanthropist and she does seem to love John McCain very much however questionable their beginnings. She has already been dragged through the muck there is no need to do it again.

I couldn't care less either. Of course, the story will generate sympathy for McCain and make it appear as if McCain is being viciously attacked when the truth is that McCain and his campaign are the true attack dogs. Obama hasn't taken the negative attack bait and has run a positive campaign, therefore, there needs to be some villain to justify Republican whining about being victimized. The NY Times is more than happy to step in and play the villain.
