Well, then you keep right on believing that you know more about foreign policy than everyone else...no reason to change a thing.

Where have I heard this before?

Hmmmm... this is a debate. *You* are putting forth your pov, and I mine. Because I have the sheer audacity to simply disagree with you and put forth my own opinion, I am

>>> Where have I heard this before?

From other people you debate on foreign policy?

>>> Hmmmm... this is a debate. *You* are putting forth your pov, and I mine. Because I have the sheer audacity to simply disagree with you and put forth my own opinion, I am claiming to 'know more about foreign policy than everyone else?'

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but when you pooh-pooh the opinions Kissinger and other Secretaries of State, on the issue of "foreign policy," in favor of your own without additional "expert" testimony to support you, your opinion takes on an air of arrogance.

>>> Interesting outlook on debating, only one side can make its views known.

Not so. You've stated your opinion, and I have stated mine, supported by the "expert opinions" of former Secretaries of State. You have dismissed those opinions in favor of your own, presumably non-expert, opinion. Once one side of a debate (on an issue of this nature devlolves into "because I said so," there's very little else to say on the matter.

>>> As for the 'considered opinions of experts, several have stated this is exactly the way to go. Heck, Powell endorsed Obama, and he is a former CoS and Secretary of State.

And? Powell certainly entitled to his opinion.

When it comes to the reasons for going to war in Iraq all the Obamanites as well as the Democrats in general blast Bush as a liar.

So you have never disagreed with a president, member of Congress, the US Supreme Court, a state court, or any political appointee?

Not once, not ever?

In a debate, if someone cites a government source, we should throw our hands up and acknowledge the person quoting this source wins?

Shall I invoke Janet Reno and Madeline Albright on various topics? How about Sandra Day O'Connor or Ruth Bader Ginsburg?

Yet you say 'Powell is entitled to his opinion.' Sounds like you are blowing it off to me... so why is it ok to blow off his opinion, but I am to accept the sources you cite?

Yes, of course. And I can say that I simply disagree and leave it at that, or I can back up my argument with supporting evidence or testimony. Even experts can be wrong, but generally speaking, a lay person's opinion isn't usually a very credible counter-argument to an expert's in a debate.

>>> In a debate, if someone cites a government source, we should throw our hands up and acknowledge the person quoting this source wins?

That would depend on the credibility and/or expertise of the source, now wouldn't it? In this particular case, Kissinger has a LOT of expertise on foreign policy while, presumably, you have very little. If you'd like to provide the testimony of other experts to support your point of view, then I guess it will come down to a "battle of the experts" and how "credible" and/or "expert" our various sources are.

>>> Shall I invoke Janet Reno and Madeline Albright on various topics? How about Sandra Day O'Connor or Ruth Bader Ginsburg?

If they have expertise and credibility on a particular issue, then by all means.

>>> Yet you say 'Powell is entitled to his opinion.' Sounds like you are blowing it off to me... so why is it ok to blow off his opinion, but I am to accept the sources you cite?

Because Powell isn't an expert on the issue he was commenting on. He was offering his opinion...nothing more.

Hmmm... I would guess Powell, former head of joint chiefs, former Secretary of State, finds merit in Obama's stance you dissed. You cite Kissinger, former Secretary of State.

No difference, but you made a big deal about me offering my opinion.

In any case, I am not an expert on the middle east, hell I'm not an expert on anything. I do have an opinion, and
