I said it then, and it evidence after the fact indicates Powell was sold a bill of good by those more zealous. If he had all the facts, no way would he have done that. He got the same package of bull doo doo Congress got, and that the administration now claims was the full range of info. Um, no. There are Republicans who would not have supported the president if all the info was out there.

They basically took advantage of 11

What is most amazing about this discussion is how you accuse me of believing my opinion is absolute, yet you refuse to acknowledge you think the same of your own.

Washington ignored the undercurrent of dissent in Iran, standing by the Shah even as he oppressed the people. Ford and Carter essentially continued this policy, and when revolution came, we suddenly act surprised. Kissinger advocated sucking up to the Shah even as he knew of issues within the country...

By the way, as former cl here, I am pretty familiar with board rules... which essentially require debate on issues, not those who post. If you look back through our postings, share which one of us played by this rule.

Quite probably, I should have addressed my post to all, not you necessarily, but it has become clear here on this board that people think we (conservatives) are voting against Obama based on race. Look at the other thread, where someone asks the question, what if the conservative candidate were not white .....I find this line of thought highly insulting and demeaning,

If you find it highly insulting and demeaning, then perhaps you should spend more time discussing why your candidate is the better candidate, not discussing how rotten Obama is and continuing to discuss things like "Obama is a mass murderer" (which I think you just got a kick out of on another thread), "Michelle eats lobster," "Obama is not a citizen," "Obama is a muslim or hangs out with muslims and/or terrorists and therefore agrees with terrorism," "Obama is a racist," "Blacks are only voting for Obama because he is black (even Colin Powell)."

I don't. I generally try to discuss the issues. Obviously

Well, I certainly don't think so. I am sure that without a doubt, there are SOME people who might be....but I think that includes some independents and even a certain number of Democrats who have shifted their vote to McCain.

I skip over tons of posts and threads which have no bearing on anything IMO, and of course there is "wingnuttery"..on both sides. sigh. I can see it and admit it, can't you?

I'm just speaking up here on the matter of racism becasue I am sick of being called racist, based on my conservative views and on the fact I'm voting for McCain.
