Robo Calls and Cell Phones

I have not received a robo call and probably won't because my state is pretty blue. But I wondered, with so many people having cell phones, how effective do you think the robo calls will be. Don't they target land lines? How many people still have a land line? Most of the people I know have dropped their land lines. How would you feel if you received a robo call on your cell phone? Would you listen to robo calls or just hang up? How does caller id factor into the robo call plan?

Hubby and I dont have a land line (but i have to say, the cell phone reception in our condo SUCKS sometimes), and i've received about 2 local robo calls and i just hang up after 3 seconds of listening. If it was a real person, i may just give them the benefit of the doubt and not hang up. :)

I have been getting robo calls AND political calls from real people on my cell phone. I'm a registered Independent in Florida.

In reference to robo calls, since I'm interested in the race, I listen to the entire call. I even save the call so that I can research the info that they give me later. That is a huge advantage for the voter if they are interested in knowing or finding the truth.

When I spoke to the real person I lied and said I had not made up my mind yet. She was so nice I didn't want to upset her.

There has been no robocalling to my home yet (I'm in a "blue state").

Since robo calls are essentially commercials for a candidate what new information do you really expect to get out of it? Why bother listening? Aren't there better places/ways to get the information than a robo call? I must admit, I thought you were more discriminating than that.

I watch all the political ads, too. Locally, if there isn't any info that I can find (I'm pretty new to this area), I will actually call the campaign office of the opposing party to see their side of it. Then I decide for myself what I think is probably the truth. Most of the time it is something in between. It is really hard to weed through the propaganda in a new area. It is much less difficult for the national race.

I think my son gets text messages from the Obama campaign, I do not. I almost never give out my cell phone number. I usually make up a number when asked by a business unless I am placing an order or something like that. I don't like people I don't know or businesses calling me. I rely heavily on caller id. I'm not much of a phone person really.

I live in a battleground state that is up for grabs, but I haven't received any calls at all.

If I get a Robo call I will hang up - regardless if it's from the candidate I support or the one I oppose, regardless if it's on my home phone or my cell phone.
