Fannie & Freddie....Remember

In the last couple of months, there have been a number of threads where posters have contended that if only those durned Democrats hadn't blocked legislation introduced by Chuck Hagel (and later signed onto by McCain), that Fannie & Freddie wouldn't have suffered such incredible losses.

<The financial meltdown is simply a symptom of how corrupt our political system has become. >

You want the stats? Then you go look for them. As my little darlings use to say when bossed around by their older siblings, "You aren't the boss of me."

That said I don't think that the stats you want will necessarily make the case for you. There are many reasons for the rise in poverty - there is not necessarily a tie-in to the Fannie-Freddie debacle.

I think I've just realized a truism in politics: Democrats shoot themselves in the foot when they campaign, Republicans shoot themselves (and the country) in the foot when they GOVERN (or try to).

I would prefer R. Paul versus J. Mccain seven days a week

Well, can't argue with you there! I, too, have long felt that, given McCain's near-incompetent campaign and his lack of any consistent policy objectives and principles (astonishing for a man who's been in the Senate as long as he has) that at this point, I'd prefer Ru Paul to John McCain, too:

I guess I just never expected to hear you agreeing:

Wink, Wink

I'm a social & fiscal conservative, and I'm severely disappointed in the Republican party.

Let's look at the rate of poverty in the US over the years.
