It was reported on several news stations in the last few days that Obama is raising 5 million dollars per week and that he has raised a total of around half a billion!

Weird how all of a sudden when a Democrat is leading in fundraising, it's some how "unfair," but did we hear anything when GWB and the Rovians had their Pioneers???

Too bad Bush isn't running right?

And wasn't Obama the one who pledged to take public financing?

First off, it's complete bullschweebie that he agreed to take public financing. Why don't you be so kind as to paste what he said on the form: He would agree to seek a deal with the McCain campaign on it. No deal was ever done, no meeting ever initiated by McCain on this, no nothing.

Secondly, you're going to tell this forum that you were against the record donations and money machine that Bush employed in 2004? I highly doubt it.

As for someone keeping their word coming into office: Look no further than your own President.

Obama's campaign: Financed by the people for the people. Looks like sour grapes coming from the side who doesn't have a candidate that INSPIRES people.

Reward Republicans for 8 years of failure? No way, No how, No McCain!

"If I am the Democratic nominee, I will aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election." --Barack Obama, answer to Midwest Democracy Network questionnaire, September 2007.

In February 2007, Barack Obama challenged Republican presidential candidates to agree to public financing of the general election. John McCain responded positively, prompting Obama's campaign spokesman, Bill Burton, to call on other Republican candidates to follow suit. The headline in the New York Times: "McCain and Obama in Deal on Public Financing."

He didn't say he was going to - heck if McCain could have gotten enough money - you think he would have agreed?

Yes... lets applaud Obama for his ability to play words so well... so well that he can scam and lie... without actually scamming and lying.

The video in the link below explains why Obama made the smart decision to reject public funding of his campaign:

http://www.npr.org/templates/player/mediaPlayer.html?action=1&t=1&islist=false&id=91683763&m=91680919

There is no limit on the number of negative ads (like the Swiftboat ads in 2004) that 527 groups can air. As Obama says in the video, the Republican PAC/lobbyist machines are well-oiled and he knew he could count on the REAL Americans, individuals, to support him rather than the lobbyists the Republicans always rely on to win an election.

Obama's my candidate--he IS intelligent!

So, because I donated $75 to the Obama camp I'm a terrorist? There are that many under $200 donations because the Obama/Biden ticket greatly benefits the MIDDLE CLASS, which doesn't have thousands of dollars to throw anywhere, but does have $25 or so to give toward a cause they feel strongly about.

This whole discussion is just laughable. Republicans and other anti-Obama-ins can't face facts and realize that Obama is a transformational leader figure
