You can not win such a war AND keep any kind of loyalty from the population at the same time. Vietnam and ALgeria are both good illustrations of this.


Also, let's not forget that Russia tried to fight the Afghans and had to leave - and now we're there and we were not the first to try to assert ourselves in Vietnam.

Yes, but I left out the Russians' Afghan adventure since it could be argued that US support played a major role in Russia's defeat. In terms of Afghan history it is probably more relevant to point out that the Brits eventually gave p on trying to control the place and that Alexander the Great spent years bogged down there and finally married an Afghan princess (i.e a political solution).

And they try to bring this about by.....endorsing John McCain? Really?

How come whenever Hamas or Hezbollah or any other even vaguely terrorist-associated group "endorses" Obama, they REALLY MEAN IT, but when one endorses McCain, it MUST be reverse psychology, because surely, the really WANT Obama?
