Palin floundering again with the Press

As Daily Kos rightly points out, she does not know what a precondition to diplomatic negotiations is. Watch her flounder.

A precondition is a specific ultimatum which the foreign country must satisfy before you speak with them. Obviously this puts your adversary in a position in which they partially surrender and show weakness before you even sit down with them. In contrast, if the adversary shows good faith and agrees to a structured agenda (yes you can still have lots of preparation and prenegotiation without preconditions), then meeting with them might be a good idea under the right circumstances, as Obama has pointed out. Bottom line is that I'm not sure I agree with Obama but I understand the point he's making that we can't expect to lord over the rest of the world given how badly the Bush Administration has behaved. I definitely think McCain and Palin are a lot more dangerous in their apparent unwillingness to seriously talk to or negotiate with our adversaries.

A precondition for Palin running for VP should have been that McCain vetted Palin enough to rest assured Palin would not be so hopelessly clueless on diplomacy 101 and the meaning of terms like precondition.

"Palin should know these terms. Dang, she has had 7 weeks to prepare, and she's still regurgitating the wrong information. McCain is an idiot for putting such a weak candidate in her position."

You are spot on here. Some people think we are being mean. This isn't about mean or nice. It's about the fact that McCain picked a person as his VP candidate who obviously is not qualified. This is about our future. This is about our money. This is about our lives. Brutal honesty is required. 55% of Americans already see she is not qualified, and the number is rising fast. Picking McCain carries with it to great a risk, no matter what your political persuasion.

Obama picked a man that said that Obama isn't ready to lead this nation.

Sorry, but Obama knows what the role he is running for involves. He even knows what a VP does ;)

And if that's the best you can do, after a whole brutal Primary, that speaks to what a solid candidate Senator Obama is. PS Obama, who was clearly tired, was referring to 57 states, territories and possessions. And McCain has made far more relevant substantive gaffs, like mistaking Sunni for Shia four times in two days, while in Iraq, the last time after being corrected on camera by his buddy Joe Lieberman.

Unlike Obama, Palin has been asked repeatedly what the job is that she is running for. She said she didn't understand what a VP does just a few months before she accepted an offer to run for the job, and she got it wrong over and over and over and over again when asked afterwards. She is just not yet ready for prime time.

and Biden has:

said Hilary would have been a better choice as VP

said that the McCain/email ad was awful and wouldn't have happened had he been asked

said a VP doesn't DO MUCH

the point is they all make gaffes ... but the ones Palin makes are front page news.

"I didn't even look at the info in the first post ... I assume it was her simplied answer to an 8 yr old ... but if not it's just another" . . .

It's not. I think you ought to look at it. Her answer shows that she does not understand diplomacy. She doesn't know what she doesn't know. That's the scary part.
