McCain LOST???
>>> Wow, you really aren't reading what I am saying. I have said repeatedly I do not endorse Marxism, communism, socialism, anarchy or other radical forms of government. They are great in theory, horrid in reality.
I think you’re getting mired in your pseudo-intellectualizing. I’ve stated several times that it’s naïve to offer an implied “endorsement” of the “concept” of an ideology without ever mentioning it’s practical reality…and after many posts, this is the first time you’ve actually acknowledged the “horrid reality.”
I also think that you need to review your choice of words…since that’s all anyone has available to glean your meaning and intent. Saying things like…“Marx got a bad name because communist dictators would use his work, but Marx's ideas are not inherently dangerous.”…is an implicit endorsement of Marxism…but that “those other guys just got it wrong.” And comments like…” I don't agree with Ayers that anarchy is a great idea, but I'm not threatened by his idealism”…diminishes the reality of anarchy and completely ignores the “horrid reality” of Ayres “idealism” when he put it into practice.
>>> It is also clear from your post that you have not read Obama's healthcare plan. He doesn't endorse a one-payer system. But even if he did, there are democracies that have them...like Canada, England, France and most of the rest of Europe.
Reality check…read up on Hawaii’s “universal health care” plan for children…and why they shut it down after only 7 months. We’re not Europe, and their health care systems are anything but ideal. Have you ever experienced the Medicare system? Obama’s plan would cost $100 BILLION at the outset and, according to experts, be financially unsustainable in only a few years.
>>> I also see nothing about income redistribution in his plans.
Then you should stop philosophizing about the joys of socialist ideologies and watch a news program. Obama, himself, in discussing his “tax cuts for 95% of Americans” has specifically endorsed the concept of “spreading the wealth.”
>>> I like Ayers idea of teaching social justice- again my conservative catholic school taught social justice and I don't see the catholic church as 'radical.' (At least not in this century!) Also, Ayers influence on the Chicago public schools has been going on for a while and I haven't seen anarchy arise from the great lakes!
>>> I am far from naive. I am well-educated, young and politically active.
I kind of guessed…you have the “idealism” of the “young.”
>>> I have read Obama's healthcare plan, about his tax plans and enough about the man to be confident he is the best choice for this nation.
I’m interested…besides his complete inexperience on economic issues, domestic issues and foreign policy issues, his lack of any substantial record, his socialists agenda, his close associations with MANY radical persons and organizations, the fact that he’s been wrong on almost every issue that has faced this nation in the past several years, and the FACT that both Hillary Clinton and Obama’s VP, Joe Biden have said he’s unqualified…what is it that gives you, someone who purports to have “read enough about the man,” the “confidence” to know that he’s the “best choice?”
>>> I don't expect you to agree with me, but I am surprised by how little you seem to know of Obama's positions on issues. Have you read his healthcare plan?
Like you, I have “read enough” about the man to be confident he’s the worst choice for this nation…and by “enough” I mean a LOT of research, both pro and con.
>>> I doubt the US government could be overthrown even if Obama was a Marxist; the president is only one official in one branch of the government. No president has that much power (though Bush has increased the president's powers).
You say “overthrown” as if Barry was going to lead a revolutionary army into Washington. As I mentioned previously, the events of the last few weeks have pushed this country towards an unprecedented level of socialism, and Obama, if elected, proposes to push it even further…and he’s doing it, not with a gun, but by establishing a feeling of entitlement and dispossession among the proletariat and creating an “enemy” of corporations and “the wealthy.” Class warfare. It’s really quite disgusting.
>>> I simply don't understand the fear surrounding an Obama presidency; it reminds me a little of what I have read about JFK's election- where people thought he would be the Pope's puppet. I would have hoped the US had moved past that, but it appears we have not.
The “fears” of an Obama Presidency aren’t based on what people “think” he’ll do at the imaginary behest of some “outside power,” but rather at what Obama has actually SAID he would do, based on his own ignorance, inexperience and socialist ideology.
>>> "Blah, blah, blah, blah."
Er...sorry...did you say something?
