Well....yeah.

But as ol' Dr. King once put it: "the arc of history is long...but it bends towards justice."

You just gotta keep plugging, and know that real change is almost always evolutionary, not revolutionary.

And, to keep your sanity, make merciless fun of the idiots. ;o)

For example: given the fact that it appears to be the Mormon church which is behind a lot of the funding and ground-troops of the current Yes-on-8 push, how 'bout if you draft up an initiative, and see if you can get it on the ballot, that amends the California constitution to read that the institution of marriage is defined as being between a man and UP TO SIX women.

THAT oughtta be good for a few laughs. ;o)

I can understand not voting to approve gay marriage. Not personally mind you, but I can undersand someone saying they cannot vote against their own belief about what is right.

I cannot wrap my head around voting AWAY existing civil rights.

When have we every done that? I guess an argument can be made for prohibilition, though I think a fundamental right to drink alcohol might be a tough cell.

I used this theme for a reading at church a week ago Sunday. Been asked to speak at a multi-faith No on 8 rally on the strength of it, which is flattering.....Father Geoff Farrow is the keynote. Anyway I'm sickened at the level of invective I've seem from the other side on this issue.

>>> Martin Luther King was shot dead at 39 years of age. Considering his life's work, and the mark he left on the world, I'd say that was rather young, in fact - thus, buttressing kjdragonfly's point.

And you'd be wrong...but what's new? LOL!

There are people in this world who always feel that they simply MUST have the last word about everything, whether or not that word actually makes any sense or has a point.
