Appears like to the United States - every sovereign nation is fair game, unless of course they have

I wonder. That may well be the message which BushCo has sent the international community. If so, we (collectively) have sowed the wind, by twice electing a world class ninnie and his sinister veep.

Now we reap the whirlwind.

Speaking of which, DH and I had some interesting conversations in the course of our roadtrip vacation. One of them concerned nuclear weapons capabilities and the likelihood of the acquisition and eventual use by other nations/entities. He thinks it's just a matter of "when", not "if".

Perhaps Syria should consider your statement, and stop permitting passage of people who are committed to killing American troops.

Well General Petraeus said more needed to be done, according to your post. It would appear something more has been done. I don't have a complaint.

It's taking the U.S. way too long to respond to this. Sure hope we didn't goof.

<< A U.S. military official confirmed late Sunday an American helicopter attack in an area along Syria’s border with Iraq, which left 8 people dead and three people wounded.

Syria condemned the attack, which it called “serious aggression.”>>

OK....so now it's confirmed that the US did indeed attack Syria (I was waiting to comment until I had found out more than just their word against yours). I'm curious to know just what the provocation was that would have prompted this action at this particular point in time. I don't want to believe that it would have been motivated by your domestic election. If that turns out to be the case, it is an absolutely despicable/dangerous/foolhardy act.

The article stated that this could be good news for McCain (I would think, ONLY if Syria were to be goaded into responding in kind)....If they don't, I think it would actually backfire on the GOP. Again, this is all just speculation until we find out what the real reasons were for the attack.

I also heard that there was a US attack within Pakistan (I think Pakistan is actually the most serious issue the US will have to deal with in the near future, over and above the Iran issue). Is there any definitive news on this story? If anyone can dig that out, I know it would be you.

I'd look into it myself, but we are facing a family tragedy. My wonderful father-in-law passed away last night and I'm just paying a brief visit here to occupy my mind.

Not denying the issues with Syria....Unless has something substantially changed since last year, 4 months ago, last month etc....The timing just seems a little odd.
