Exactly the same isn't true. But certainly the claim is partically true -- and many of McCain's policies ARE the same as Bushs (no surprise they belong to the same political party, they SHOULD have similar policies).

But Obama isn't partly Muslim -- that is a complete and total falsehood

In both cases the purpose is to frighten people into moving away from the candidate, but the statements aren't equivalent.

Yes I disagree to a certain extent. One misleads the other lies. Not equivalent.

One preys on an irrational fear of terrorists by lying about a candidate.

One takes an association that actually (and rightfully) exists and exaggerates it.
