This election has been a revelation for me - I never suspected this much latent sexism existed on the left.
This does not mean my outlook shifts right, hardly... but as a feminist, it does open my eyes to the extent of change needed in this country.
Raising the issue is frequently met with hostility and derision by those who openly espouse misogynist viewpoints.
The best way to promote a liberal cause is not by tearing others down. Obama's very message is for this to end, and that he will help facilitate bringing it to an end.

How about all the questioning of what she wears (and its costs), the continued painting-her-as-an-idiot (by frothingly misquoting her to begin with, and going from there), questions like "how will you be able to combine being a VP and raising 5 kids?"...... etc. etc.
The criticism of Palin is not an example of misogyny. It is the criticism of one particularly dysfunctional individual. Where the starving French peasants misogynistic when they saw at Marie Anoinette in all of her pomp and splendor, telling them to eat cake?
