I missed it due to a graduate class :( so I wondered if anyone else had seen it. I was surprised not to see anything posted here about it. If you did watch it what did you think? Good? Bad? Valuable info? Waste of time? Are you planning to watch McCain later tonight?

You do realize that Ronald Regan asked for line item veto first don't you? I think every president since has wanted it. Clinton had it briefly and used it to cut pork out of bills until the Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional.

Sheesh, there is plenty of blame to go around. First of all the people who lost their jobs, that's why they couldn't pay their mortgages. the mortgage companies convince people they could afford more than they could, the Mortgage companies KNEW they would default, thought of how well they could make out. When it was looking like things were going south, they high tailed it out with their golden parachuttes. No, I wish conservatives would stop blaming everything on the Democrats.

>>> Sheesh, there is plenty of blame to go around. First of all the people who lost their jobs, that's why they couldn't pay their mortgages.

No, not really...it was the subprimes.

>>> the mortgage companies convince people they could afford more than they could, the Mortgage companies KNEW they would default, thought of how well they could make out. When it was looking like things were going south, they high tailed it out with their golden parachuttes.

They didn't know the homeowners would default, but it was a dangerous lending practice that was pushed by the Dems.

>>> No, I wish conservatives would stop blaming everything on the Democrats.

I wish the Democrats would stop doing things that they need to be blamed for...but they do.

Seems not much truth to that email legend...Even the RNC isn't buying it.

I find Obama to be quite attractive. I wonder why you think he doesn't look good?

<< But I think people hear this plan of Obama's and think it's a miracle cure and it's not.>>

I disagree, I don't think anyone thinks it is a miracle cure. Obama's health care plan is very much like Massachusets', WITHOUT the mandate/fines imposed on individuals to purchase health insurance. His plan requires only that CHILDREN be covered, as there are gov't programs that children can easily be enrolled in.

<>

And rising costs are a problem in Massachusetts, too. But the GOP's efforts to contain costs by making us pay more out-of-pocket hasn't been working, either. Everyone's deductibles, co-pays and personal contributions toward health insurance premiums have been increasing by at least 5-10% each year. Costs keep rising because insurance companies' costs are rising and they have to keep maximizing profits for their shareholders. They are also rising because of the expensive, latest, state-of-the-art technology must be owned by every single hospital, with very little capital equipment being used at, or near, capacity. It sits idle.

Only true, universal health care coverage will contain costs. Unfortunately, neither candidate is proposing that. Obama's plan is better than McCain's, which proposes high-risk pools for those with pre-existing conditions, a concept that has been proven not to work in many states.

Obama's plan is better, but it will be only a slight improvement over the current state of health care coverage in the U.S. (His plan does NOT provide coverage for illegal immigrants.)
