A state agency has revealed that its checks of computer systems for potential information on "Joe the Plumber" were more extensive than it first acknowledged.


Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, disclosed today that computer inquiries on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher were not restricted to a child-support system.


The agency also checked Wurzelbacher in its computer systems to determine

It would never have gone this far had McCain not brought Joe the Plumber into the spotlight by referring to him 21 times. It should have ended with his question to Obama. McCain also "capitalized on it"

Government employees are prohibited from accessing information about private citizens in sensitive government files UNLESS such access is required in order to carry out their job duties.

Why should it have ended? It wasn't the question that was of interest to anyone, it was Obama's answer. The story really isn't about Joe, it's about "spreading the wealth".

It doesn't bother you that these government organizations had no issues with going over this man's private and confidential financial information the day after McCain first said "Joe the plummer."
