>>> Over the last 8 years under George Bush our economy has gotten progressively worse.
Actually, no...over the past 8 years our economy has grown 20%...which is amazing considering the circumstances of the past 8 years. When Bush took office, he inherited a recession from Bill Clinton and then months later, we suffered a devastating attack on the World Trade Center...with special emphasis on the word "Trade." That attack, along with the two ensuing wars SHOULD have been devastating to our already ailing economy, but under Bush's leadership and conomic policies, the economy didn't falter, but rather grew and kept inflation and unemployment at near record lows.
>>> Tax breaks have gone to the wealthiest Americans in the hope it would trickle down to everyone else.
While it's true that "the rich" received greater financial benefit from he specific nature of the tax cuts, the tax breaks were, in fact, across the board and not directed at any particular "class." It's also true that trickle down economics works...which will be proven again when Obama attacks "the rich" and the "trickle down" will raise everyone's COL and cost the middle class their jobs.
>>> the result has been a shrinking of the middle class.
How can a tax cut for "the rich" make the middle class "shrink?"
>>> Bush has given tax breaks to companies that have shipped jobs over seas.
Of course. Those companies left because of the cost of doing business, so it makes sense to offer them financial incentives to create new jobs here. Obama, on the other hand, feels that being punitive, and attacking business will somehow entice them to stay. Obama is a fool...and once again, has adopted a point of view based on inexperience.
>>> Many factories have shut down over the last 8 years and there has been nothing in place to replace those jobs.
Sure, the cost of doing business (taxes, etc) is going to drive business away...as will foreign competition, unfair trade practices and new technology. You can't stop progress, but you can stop policies that drive business away and kill jobs...vote McCain.
>>> This has forced many Americans to take less paying jobs to support their families. You ask someone in the manufacturing sector how the economy has been over the last 8 years and they will tell you it has been tough. Bush has not given any tax breaks to the middle class and yet we have seen the cost of gas and groceries and everything go up. Under Bush the rich got richer and the hell with everyone else.
Well, it's the rich that create jobs...and Bush has no control over the price of gas. But as you said, when gas went up, everything else became more expensive too. What do you think is going to happen when Obama drives up the price of doing business with his tax increases?
>>> Again McCain has offered no significant change. He is not offering tax breaks to the middle class just more for the rich.
Actually, McCain wants to lower everyone's taxes, to create jobs and encourage investment. That's how you stimulate the economy, not with $500 welfare checks.
>>> I want change and semthing different and Obama's plan represents the change I am looking for.
And you're looking for the inexperienced leadership of someone who's gotten every major decision affecting the country in the past few years wrong?
>>> In three debates McCain has not talked about the middle class at all so where are his plans to help the middle class that he never talks about.
He has talked about the middle class, he just doesn't use "middle class" as a buzz word.
>>> I don't think offering tax breaks to 95% of the country is socialism I see it as helping the ones that need it.
How do you know that they "need it?" Obama didn't ask. And I hate to break it to you, but taking money from someone who earned it to give to someone who didn't, is socialism...and giving money to people who don't pay taxes isn't a tax break...it's welfare.
>>> Did you consider Clinton a socialist? Obama's tax plan is going back to the way it was with Clinton where jobs were created and many people thrived.
A history lesson...Clinton raised taxes on the middle class two months after getting into office, having previously promised to cut them, as Obama has. And the reason the economy grew during the Clinton administration, wasn't because of anything Clinton did, but because of the dotcom boom that started in the early 90's...and had crashed by the time Bush came into office...another Clintonian inheritance.
>>> I have educated myself on both candidates. I have watched all the debates, conventions, and countless hours of reading online and watching numerous news sources on this election. I am educated on this election and have made my choice to vote for Obama.
That doesn't seem particularly evident. You don't seem to know anything about McCain and his proposals, or anything specific that Bush did to hurt the economy, and yet you are content to blame him and tie McCain to those "mythical" policies, apparently just because lib propaganda says you should.
You also don't appear to have learned very much about Obama. I find it amazing that so many libs can hypocritically ignore his close relationships with so many extreme radicals...but I guess all's fair in partisanship. And Obama's tax policies ARE socialist and nothing like the policies of either Bush or Clinton. In two short years, Obama has earned the title of "most liberal Senator"...and in the same time period of time he took the second highest amount from Fannie and Freddie and scored nearly a BILLION in earmarks. For anyone who does even the most basic math, it's evident that Obama is simply lying, and will not be able to fulfill his campaign promises. And anyone who's examined the events that have confronted the country in the past several years (the surge, the economic crisis, Iran's nuclear ambitions, the Russian Invasion of Georgia, etc) can see that Obama was wrong on each and every one. Even his VP running mate says that Obama will be tested...and he will get it wrong.
I think a little more education on both candidates would help.
Obama's family
>>> It sounds like his aunt is doing okay.
If she were doing "okay" then why is she in public housing? Why is his brother living on 12 dollars a month in a hut? Why does his "white grandmother," who sacrificed so much for him, live in a "modest apartment?" Looks like Barry's claims of "I am my brother's keeper" is as big a lie as the rest of his rhetoric.
>>> Obama's family could be proud and unwilling to take charity if they thought that they did not need it.
And maybe they're secretly very wealthy, but are hiding their enormous riches and appearing very poor to avoid Obama's socialist tax policies. That was fun...you go again! ; )
>>> I think it is interesting to hear all of this "concerned outpouring" for Obama's family from the same minds that passed those lies about his religion and background and policies.
The Times and the Boston Globe have lied about Obama's religion and background and policies? Do tell.
>>> He and his family will do just fine without that fake compassion.
Oh, I know Obama will...but the brother living in the hut, the aunt living in public housing and the "white grandmother" who sacrificed so much for little Barry seem like they could use a little help from the millionaire Obamessiah. It sad Barry never learned to share...or care about anyone other than himself. I guess his "white grandmother" sacrificed so much for nothing.
