I was asking about Obama's plan to get this to happen.

Ok, as far as how Obama could make Ins companies take people with pre-exhisting conditions. He could tax their profits more if they don't accept people, OR, he could tax them LESS if the are willing to accept people with pre-exhisting conditions. Meaning lowering their corporate taxes. Companies who take businesses over seas, should be taxed HIGHER than companies keeping jobs here.

It appears that Obama will impose regulations requiring that insurance companies cover preexisting conditons. That will ensure that the risk is spread widely which is, after all, the purpose of insurance, rather than being concentrated in high-risk insurance pools as McCain is proposing.

"Make Health Insurance Work for People and Businesses - Not Just Insurance and Drug Companies.

* Require insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions so all Americans regardless of their health status or history can get comprehensive benefits at fair and stable premiums."

I've read the plan ... but it is vague in many, many areas (as experts have pointed out) and it doesn't indicate how he plans to

McCain doesn't explain how he'll cover the costs in his plan either. His definitely favors the insurance companies and not us participants.

I think this is a fair description of the strengths & weaknesses of both plans:

I'm really getting tired of this pre-existing condition scare tactic. It is currently illegal for HMOs to deny coverage due to pre-existing conditions. Dd has multiple very serious and expensive pre-existing conditions and we have changed insurance more than half a dozen times and have never been denied coverage.

LOL -- that's the typical response .... 'well neither does mccain'.

I've long said both of their hc plans suck ... but the one being discussed was Obama's ... surely you have something better than 'well neither does mccain'.

oh and in Obama's faq section he says he plans to pay for this 50ish billion dollar plan by letting Bush's tax cuts expire for people making over 250k.

Just out of curiousity, does he have any documentation to demonstrate that he will collect 50 billion dollars if he lets the Bush tax cuts expire.
