Really? How do you feel about former leader of the KKK, Robert Byrd (D) constantly being re-elected and championed? He's a great representative for the Democrats, huh? That wouldn't influence you to "change parties" though, would it?

And is Byrd spewing racist crap today? If so, please cite an example.

Or have we forgotten that Strom Thurmond, that pillar of the GOP, ran for President as a Dixiecrat in order to oppose desegregation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strom_Thurmond

Scroll down a bit to see an exerpt of a speech he gave in 1948. (I CANNOT reprint it here.) And Strom was FAMOUS for his 24h 18m filibuster of the Civil Rights Act of 1957, a move his fellow Southern Senators were upset about. Strom thought that Jim Crow was good for the South.

But of course, it was OK for Strom to realize the error of his ways, but not for Byrd?

Robert Byrd was a LEADER of the KKK, a group who MURDERED and TERRORIZED African Americans. He continues to be elected by DEMOCRATS to the Senate year after year. I think that is MUCH WORSE than ANY hate speech uttered by anyone. ACTIONS speak LOUDER than words.

And....Strom Thurman is DEAD.

Would you forgive, say, DAVID DUKE? He apologized, too. Give me a break, he was a member of an organization that got away with MURDERING and TERRORIZING people. An apology is all it takes for a Democrat. That truly makes me ill.

David Duke has the same feelings now he's always had.
