Sarah Palin speaks on the First Amendment

(updated below - Update II - Update III)

Somehow, in Sarah Palin's brain, it's a threat to the First Amendment when newspapers criticize her negative attacks on Barack Obama.

Right, and besides, Obama did not actually refer to the Constitution itself as "flawed." He said that it reflectED flaws of the society that created it and that some of those flaws (i.e. the ones in the society) remain. As far as I can see he is simply alluding to what the founders themselves recognized, namely that the Constitution is a product of its time and can not be expected to remain static as circumstances change. He is also suggesting that simply getting the kink out of the Constitution does not necessarily mean that the underlying flaw in society goes with it. This goes to his overall point that the civil rights movement became too focused on recourse through the courts.

>>There is room for change because the document is imperfect and unable to address all circumstances and situations that may arise in the future...not because the document or the founders who wrote it were fundamentally flawed.<<

What is the fundamental difference between "flawed" and "imperfect" please?

1 a: a defect in physical structure or form flaw> b: an imperfection or weakness and especially one that detracts from the whole or hinders effectiveness flaw in his character> flaw in the book's plot>

1: not perfect: as a: defective bof a flower : having stamens or pistils but not both c: lacking or not involving sexual reproduction imperfect stage of a fungus>

And Obama insulted a HUGE segment of the population by saying they clinged to their guns and religion. Do we really need to do a tit-for-tat gaffe-fest?

From what I have seen during this election, I don't think Obama made a gaffe...just stated the truth.

Generally speaking, indians weren't slaughtered or blacks enslaved as a means of promoting Christianity or it's value system.

There were numerous terrible things done to Native Americans in the name of Christianity.

Actually, it's Obama, your Presidential candidate, not your VP who's "Constitutionally ignorant"...

You say this and then you fail to back it up.

"Actually, it's Obama, your Presidential candidate, not your VP who's "Constitutionally ignorant"...

Does this mean that you AGREE with Palin's assesment of the 1st amendment. That criticism of public officials and candidates is an "attack" on the first amendment ? That free speech only applies to HER, and not to anyone who wishes to criticise or challenge what she says ?

If criticising Palin is "unconstitutionals" why is criticism of Obama OK ?

Also, how does the view that the first amendment is "threatened" by people actually excercising their right of free speech to criticise Palin, show a deep understanding of the constitution ?

Jesus didn't comment on slavery, so I don't know how Christianity could be used to condone slavery.

I love it!
