Latest Zogby Poll - here we go...

Or I'm hoping so anyway! I've been watching this one for a month now and McCain has pulled in close but not pulled ahead till today. But, then again, do we really believe ANY of these polls?

http://www.drudgereport.com/

ZOGBY SATURDAY: Republican John McCain has pulled back within the margin of error... McCain outpolled Obama 48% to 47% in Friday, one day, polling. He is beginning to cut into Obama's lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all...

lol. No offense, and I hate to be a buzz kill, but just thank McCain and Palin for their hostile rallies and Sam, the non-licensed plumber and his cries of socialism for my extra vigilant watch on polls that favor the GOP. lol.

And I agree with you about not relying too heavily on the polls. Even-Stevens is the way to play this one. lol.

Released: October 31, 2008

Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby Poll: Obama 50.1%, McCain 43.1%

Shoot even the actual Zogby poll doesn't seem to agree with the Drudge Report of the Zogby poll.

Something didn't sound right, and coming from such a partisan source... so I set out to find it for myself, and the result was quite different.

Maybe he forgot to mention the poll was for say... Texas. ;-)

What I could tell is that these are the numbers that will come out tomorrow. One day polling, not 3 day.

Feel free to reserach the difference in relialblity of one day polling vs tracking polls.

The release I linked to was from 1 am Saturday, so that was rather warm off the press.

I find the number way out of whack with everything else, and

The source was Dick Morris on Foxnews which many lefties automatically disregard from what I have gathered here. The theory is interesting no matter who said it and it's just that - a theory.

I did get the other link to work for you though:

Obama's New Attack on Those Who Don't Want Higher Taxes: ‘Selfishness’
October 31, 2008 10:58 AM

On the stump this week, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has pushed back against Sen. John McCain's description of his tax policies.

"The reason that we want to do this, change our tax code, is not because I have anything against the rich," Obama said in Sarasota, Fla., yesterday. "I love rich people! I want all of you to be rich. Go for it. That’s the American dream, that’s the American way, that’s terrific.

"The point is, though, that -- and it’s not just charity, it’s not just that I want to help the middle class and working people who are trying to get in the middle class -- it’s that when we actually make sure that everybody’s got a shot – when young people can all go to college, when everybody’s got decent health care, when everybody’s got a little more money at the end of the month – then guess what? Everybody starts spending that money, they decide maybe I can afford a new car, maybe I can afford a computer for my child. They can buy the products and services that businesses are selling and everybody is better off. All boats rise. That’s what happened in the 1990s, that’s what we need to restore. And that’s what I’m gonna do as president of the United States of America.

"John McCain and Sarah Palin they call this socialistic," Obama continued. "You know I don’t know when, when they decided they wanted to make a virtue out of selfishness."

It's unclear if this was a nod to the Ayn Rand book "The Virtue of Selfishness," with all that the invocation of Rand implies.

It would seem to be, given the themes of Rand's work, what happens when independent achievers are demonized.

Which would fit with this description of those who want to keep their hard-earned tax dollars as "selfish."

Atlas may not be shrugging, but Obama is.
