I have not heard if Palin's is going to release her medical records. She is the youngest, and so why all of the hub bub? Conspiracy Theory: Trig is Bristols? The blogs stated it first.

Good question! Why won't SP release her medical records? They are certainly more relevant than some book Dohrn wrote back in the 70s that Huckabee and some FOX guy were discussing tonight.

To be honest, I never understood the fascination and demands on medical records, and personally wish that this call for records by any candidate be brought to an end.

If a president is ill, then well, so be it, we adjust, and we move on. IMO, we take this way too far.

I understand why people clamour for this stuff, we have an unlimited appetite for information and no ability to satiate it... but it has gotten out of hand over my lifetime, and think we need to step back and look at this a bit more rationally.

I think I understand what you mean about invading the candidates' privacy. I used to feel that way until I watched a historical account of FDR's 4th term as POTUS, and how he HID his illness from the country. Sure enough, when FDR was elected the 4th time, he died shortly after taking office. It shocked the nation, and many people, had they known he was so ill, might not have voted for him. By lying about his health, FDR stripped the voters of important information that could have changed their opinion and choice to vote for him. It was extremely selfish and manipulative. Now, I understand why releasing medical records

I think it's important to know how honest a candidate is.

Perhaps the medical records do not need to be released to the public, but they could be released to a bipartisan panel of physicians for review. If anything the candidate said about his medical history counters the evidence in his/her medical record, the lies should be shared with us voters.

(((Now in FDR's case, a current physical might have turned up something, but I do not believe the country had any right to know his history, whether it was polio or whatever else is now suspected. ))))

Again, I once agreed completely with you, but FDR and his doctors knew that he was seriously ill. So ill that Eleanor and Truman handled a lot of his affairs. Hiding his illness was not fair and honest. The voters need to know as much about the candidate's health as possible so that they can make informed decisions. Heart attacks, strokes, chronic diseases, etc. are serious business. It is said that FDR was so sick that Stalin, the Russian dictator, took advantage of him and asked for and received concessions that benefited Russia at the expense of the US. Very dangerous to have a POTUS that is not well, competent, and uncompromised.
