Zogby: McCain up 1

ZOGBY SATURDAY: Republican John McCain has pulled back within the margin of error… McCain outpolled Obama 48% to 47% in Friday, one day, polling. He is beginning to cut into Obama’s lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all…

Greatly Missed, Never Ever Forgotten
This has got to be a joke right?
Greatly Missed, Never Ever Forgotten
"If Obama wins America is doomed."
Uh huh. The Bush, with McCain's full support, deregulated us into the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and has us mired in a war that we waged because Bush told us Iran was on its way to getting WMD and had ties to al Qaeda. Neither were true. We already have lost far more of our fine young men and women in that war than we lost on 9/11.
So if who wins is America doomed??
Back to the topic of this thread:
"Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) has taken the largest lead yet among likely voters against Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in the national Gallup poll released Saturday. Obama expanded his lead to ten percent from nine percent on Friday.
Obama's lead is a dramatic rise from the 49-47 percent margin that Gallup registered just four days ago.
Gallup added, "This is the first time since Gallup began estimating likely voters in early October that there is no difference between Gallup's two likely voter models. Obama's lead of 52% to 42% using Gallup's traditional estimate of likely voting criteria takes into account past voting as well as current intentions. Obama's identical lead using the expanded model takes into account only current voting intentions.""

Keeping my fingers crossed for Senator Obama.

>>> Uh huh. The Bush, with McCain's full support, deregulated us into the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression
That would be true if it weren't a lie. Bush and McCain were the only ones who tried to introduce regulation into the sub-prime lending scheme created by the Democrats...and were blocked by...wait for it...the Democrats. And who were the biggest benefactors of this lending scheme?...another big surprise...the Democrats, with Franklin Raines, an Obama advisor, scoring $90 MILLION in 6 years from the unscrupulous loans, and Chriss Dodd and Obama coming in #1 and #2 in money from Fannie/Freddie.
>>> and has us mired in a war that we waged because Bush told us Iran was on its way to getting WMD and had ties to al Qaeda. Neither were true.
I think you meant Iraq? And you think that Bush came up with this "theory?" Sorry, but no...
December 16, 1998...before Bush was a twinkle in the eye of the American people...Bill Clinton addressed the nation...
"Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors."
"Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas, or biological weapons."
"And so we had to act and act now. Let me explain why. First, without a strong inspection system, Iraq would be free to retain and begin to rebuild its chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons programs in months, not years."
Notice that in the first example, Clinton speaks of attacking Iraq's nuclear program, which obviously requires the known existence — indeed, the location — of such a program. And in the third example, Clinton warns of an imminent threat Iraq could reconstitute, among other things, its nuclear-weapons program, thereby alleging its existence.

IN 1998:
In 1998, Bill Clinton said we had intelligence that showed Iraq was making WMD and becoming a threat to the world.
“If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program.”
–President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998
Maddie Albright agreed:
“Iraq is a long way from , but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face.”
–Sec. of State Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998
Tom Daschle and lots of other Democrats completely agreed.
“e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq’s refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs.”
Letter to President Clinton, signed by:
– Democratic Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others, Oct. 9, 1998
Sandy “Pants” Berger agreed:
“He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983.”
–Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998
Nancy Pelosi agreed: “Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process.”
-Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998
-----------------------------------------------------
AND BEFORE THE WAR:
“There is no doubt that … Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies.”
Letter to President Bush, Signed by:
– Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), and others, Dec 5, 2001
“We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them.”
– Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002
“We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country.”
– Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
“Iraq’s search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power.”
– Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
“We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction.”
– Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002
“The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons…”
– Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002
“I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force — if necessary — to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security.”
– Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002
“There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years … We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction.”
– Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002
“He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do”
– Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002
“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members … It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons.”
– Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002
“We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction.”
– Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002
“Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime … He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation … And now he is miscalculating America’s response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction … So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real…”
– Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

AND BILL CLINTON:
"When I left office, there was a substantial amount of biological and chemical material unaccounted for. That is, at the end of the first Gulf War, we knew what he had. We knew what was destroyed in all the inspection processes and that was a lot. And then we bombed with the British for four days in 1998. We might have gotten it all; we might have gotten half of it; we might have gotten none of it. But we didn't know. So I thought it was prudent for the president to go to the U.N. and for the U.N. to say you got to let these inspectors in, and this time if you don't cooperate the penalty could be regime change, not just continued sanctions." --Bill Clinton, July 22, 2003
>>> We already have lost far more of our fine young men and women in that war than we lost on 9/11.
And? We lose 10 times that number in auto accidents each year.
>>> So if who wins is America doomed??
McCain has policies that will grow the economy, lower our debt and create jobs...and Obama has policies that will hurt the economy, increase our debt, hurt business and kill jobs.
>>> Back to the topic of this thread: Keeping my fingers crossed for Senator Obama.
Was there any doubt. I hope you're not offended, but I'm crossing my fingers hoping that your crossed fingers don't work. ; )
Nope, just the perfect candidate for people who think.
I like that site too, the guy's a real statistics nerd going back to baseball etc... Very impressive.
Though the race isn't nearly as close as 2004, the anxiety level is much higher.

Reward Republicans for 8 years of failure? No way, No how, No McCain!
>>People who "think" don't buy an empty suit with an empty slogan of "hope and change." LOL!<<
See and here I thought you and I would never agree on anything.
Someone wins and we're doomed? I remember that kind of talk right before the 1980 election.
Bush was already elected and we're already in a world of hurt. Hmmm, try something different or keep going with the same things that got us here. That's really the choice this country has to make, as clear as it's even been since 1980.
