McCain's VP Pick Fails McDonald's Test

"Says former Reagan Chief of Staff and longtime GOP insider Ken Duberstein of John McCain's VP selection: "Even at McDonalds, you're interviewed three times before you're given a job.""

You've got to watch this. This is not the media. This is not a left wing conspiracy. This is not even a Democrat.

This is Reagan's former Chief of Staff for goodness sake. This was after the following:

"Earlier this week, Sen. John McCain noted that he had been endorsed by a number of former secretaries of state, including Lawrence Eagleburger, who served briefly at the end of President George H.W. Bush's term. But in an interview with NPR's "Talk of Nation" yesterday, Eagleburger could not bring himself to endorse Sarah Palin.

When host Neal Conan asked Eagleburger if he was "entirely comfortable" with the selection of the Alaska governor as the GOP vice presidential candidate and whether she was prepared to be president if McCain died in office, Eagleburger responded candidly, saying she was not qualified but perhaps would be "adequate."

"It is a very good question," he said. He paused, and then added: "I'm being facetious here. Look, I don't think -- of course not."

"I don't think at the moment she is prepared to take over the reins of the presidency,'' he continued. "I can name for you any number of other vice presidents who were not particularly up to it either. So the question, I think, is, can she learn and would she be tough enough under the circumstances if she were asked to become president, heaven forbid that that ever takes place?

"Give her some time in the office and I think the answer would be, she will be" -- Eagleburger paused here, searching for the right word -- "adequate. I can't say that she would be a genius in the job. But I think she would be enough to get us through a four-year -- well, I hope not -- get us through whatever period.""

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/10/31/eagleburger_palin_not_ready_to.html

Eagleburger later said, appropriately, on "Fair and Balanced" Fox that he had made a terrible mistake in telling us . . . the truth about Palin on NPR.

Even McCain could not bring himself to say that Palin might be President - instead of saying the word President McCain laughed and moved on. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/#27480158

Palin is not just unqualified. She is way short. She is so bad that the McCain campaign is calling her a "whack job", a "diva", and a "rogue" at great personal cost.

How did she get here? McCain never vetted her. It's not so much her fault for taking the job, as it is his for offering it to her when a little diligence would have revealed she is clearly not qualified to be VP let alone President. And the thought of President Palin is really scary. Do you want to take this risk?

"The Right Wingers are all too busy salivating in the Obama half-aunt thread. Shows you their priorities."

Yup, they don't seem to mind that McCain gave Sarah Palin one third the number of interviews that Micky D's requires for hamburger flippers.

"Nothing but blabber here."

So sayeth the right-winger. It shall be done.

And yet somehow the fact remains that Micky D's interview its hamburger flippers, sweepers and everyone else three times. McCain interviewed Palin once.

And now we learn that unvetted Palin may have more baggage:

"With no indication that Sen. John McCain's (R-AZ) presidential campaign will release Gov. Sarah Palin's medical records -- or even a single-page summary -- Palin's spokesmen appear to have lied when they said Palin would release details on her medical history.

Two weeks ago, Palin's campaign told several reporters on the trail that a summary of the Alaska governor's medical history would be made public before Election Day.

But there's no indication that even a single coversheet will be released, according to CNN.

"Reporters were told that details on Palin's medical background would be released early last week," CNN reports. "Last Thursday, after that timeframe had passed, a campaign aide backed off the previous pledge, saying the campaign wasn’t sure when the information would be released."

By most accounts, Palin appears to be in good health. But some -- including conservative pundit Andrew Sullivan -- have raised questions about whether Palin's decision not to release any medical data has to do with the birth of her son, Trig, at 43. Sullivan has documented myriad inconsistencies in the governor's account of her son's birth.

After her water broke in her eighth month of pregnancy, while out of town to give a speech, Palin did not go to the hospital and instead called her doctor over the phone.

"I think that the majority of obstetricians, given a 44 year old with 4 previous deliveries and a known Down syndrome pregnancy at less than term with a question of ruptured membranes, would advise her to be seen at a hospital (especially if out-of-town and the question of traveling was on the table) to have these tests performed; given the malpractice risk, very few would be comfortable making the diagnosis over the phone," said one obstetrician Sullivan quotes."

http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Palin_campaign_likely_lied_when_saying_1103.html

It was bad enough that pro-abstinence Palin's daughter had an unmarried teen pregnancy. Now there are all sorts of other rumors flying around and Palin is throwing oil on the fire by keeping all her medical records under seal. Think Palin is trustworthy? Then you can rest assured where there's smoke there's no fire for her thank you very much. Or know the truth that Palin is a liar who has been caught in big time lying many times, from claiming she's against earmarks after grabbing so many of them for Alaska to saying she killed the bridge to nowhere after she was one of the last to let it go.

I am glad that we have established that McCain did one third as good a job of vetting his VP pick as Micky D's does every one of its sweepers, hamburger flippers and fry masters.

And what a surprise that Palin has turned out to be a disaster. She is so bad that McCain and his campaign have gone on the record to call her a "whack job", a "rogue" and a "diva" at their great expense. That is how bad she is. The fact that McCain is an older (to put it gently) two time cancer survivor who odds are could be incapacitated at some point make this so much scarier.

So to those who are scared by the thought of President Obama (putting aside that even McCain says you should not be scared of that), the thought of President Palin is far far far more scary.

What is that Phil Collins song again? Something about "No reply at all." The roar of Republican silence here is deafening. And telling. And now look at the latest from Palin:

"With time running out, Sarah Palin has delivered what might be the most incendiary line of the entire presidential campaign.

Not content to just disagree with her opponents on policy, the Republican vice presidential nominee has accused Democrats of outright sympathizing with terrorists.

"What do they think? Do they think the terrorists have all the sudden become the good guys and changed their minds?" she asked a crowd in Jefferson City, Mo. "No, the terrorists still seek to destroy America and her allies and all that it is that we stand for: freedom, tolerance, and equality. The terrorists have not changed their minds." "

It's no wonder the real terrorists have endorsed her and McCain. They love it when our politicians whip us up into internal conflict instead of quietly keeping our eye on the ball in eradicating al Qaeda.

Something else comes to mind.

Over and over the whole "terrorists will win if Obama is President thing" seems to be most effective in areas of the country that are so far removed from the threat of a foreign terrorist attack.
